The '''Book of Life''' is a key item in ''[[Drawn to Life]]'' and ''[[Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter]]''. It is also mentioned in ''[[Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter (Wii)]]'', but has a very minor role. It contains all the creations made by the [[Creator]], including the Raposa [[World]], the [[Sun]], the [[Moon]], the [[Raposa]], and even the [[Hero]]. This book is the Creator's tool for creating things, and contains [[Template]]s that become real once they are colored.

Raposa do not generally alter the Book of Life with the exception of the [[Mayor (Position)|mayors]] of [[Rapoville]], notably [[Mari]] and [[Mayor|her father]]. In ''[[Drawn to Life]]'', pages from the Book of Life are recovered in all levels except for the [[Snow Fields]] and boss levels. In ''[[Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter (Wii)]]'', pages are recovered in [[Jangala Canopy]] and [[Jangala Outpost]]. In ''[[Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter]]'', pages are recovered in three out of the first six levels of [[Wilfre's Wasteland]].

The Book of Life is a thick, hardcover book with gold trimmings and a golden [[Raposa]] head drawn onto the front. The pages are slightly worn, while the contents of the pages vary. Some pages have line-drawings, some are blank, and some have written words. It also has a red silk-bound bookmark.

The color of the books cover is inconsistent, as it appears green in the intro of ''[[Drawn to Life]]'', [[Drawn to Life Collection]]'s main menu, the instruction booklets for [[Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter|both]] [[Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter (Wii)|versions]] of ''Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter'', and key art from ''[[Drawn to Life: Two Realms]]''. However, it appears red in [[Mari]]'s sprites, [[Wilfre]]'s sprites,  and in [[Creation Hall]]. According to [[Drawn to Life: Two Realms Credits|Joseph Tringali]], this is because the Book appears red in the [[Raposa]] realm, but in our world, meaning the real world that you, the player and reader, currently exist in, it appears green<ref>[[File:BookofLifeColor.png|100px]]</ref>. It is currently unknown what color the book would appear as in the [[Human]] realm.

First, the [[Creator]] formed a circle and drew the [[World]] and the sea. Then he populated it with beautiful forests. Lastly, the Creator made the [[Raposa]] to live in the new world. Before the time where the game takes place, [[Wilfre]] drew in the Book of Life, an act forbidden by the Creator. His creations came out as [[Shadow]]s, and he fled [[Rapoville]] as a result. Out of rage, he ripped out many pages, including the [[Sun]] and [[Moon]], and threw the shreds into the wind. The damage to the Book of Life caused the Creator to become depressed, sealing off [[Creation Hall]] and abandoning the Raposa.

The Creator returns and unseals Creation Ha;; when [[Mari]] asks them to help restore the village. Using the remaining pages in the Book of Life, the Creator grants her a [[Hero]] to help rescue the captured Raposa and collect the scattered [[Template]]s. During each of the levels of the ''[[Drawn to Life]]'', the Hero must find four torn pieces of paper, to complete a single Template. Certain villagers, such as [[Isaac]] and [[Samuel]], also happen to have Templates on them. Throughout the game, [[Mayor]] keeps the Book of Life safe and re-adds the missing pages.

Near the end of the game, Wilfre, now a [[Shadow]] being, confronts the Mayor alone, killing him and stealing the Book of Life. He begins to remove many of the creations the Hero had restored, and uses some of them against the Hero during his [[Wilfre's Scorpion|boss]] [[Wilfre#As a Boss|fight]]. The Hero is able to defeat Wilfre, taking back the Book of Life and entrusting it to Mari. However, as she does not feel ready to be mayor, the Creator signs their name in the back of the book instead of her.

At the beginning of ''[[Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter]]'', [[Mari]] and her new deputy mayor, [[Circi]], notice that the Book of Life had gone missing. In her stress, Mari asks the [[Creator]] for another [[Hero]], who finds the Book of Life in [[Crazy Barks]]' care. Throughout the game, the Hero continues to collect templates, notably the template for [[Isaac's Door]] and [[Banya]], but the book plays a much less substantial role in this game.`

===''Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter''===
In ''[[Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter]]'', [[Mari]] continues to protect the Book of Life in the wake of [[Wilfre]]'s return, although she gives it to [[Jowee]] while in [[Watersong]]. Shortly after leaving Watersong, Mari vanishes, leaving the Book of Life in Jowee's care. When Mari mysteriously returns, she asks Jowee for the Book and begins to rip out the pages, taking the rest of the Book with her as she jumps through one of Wilfre's portals.

When the group finally arrives at [[Wilfre's Wasteland]], Wilfre has the Book of Life, and uses a page to showcase his [[Wilfre#As a Boss|Ultimate Creation]], a massive, flying throne. After his defeat, the fate of the Book of Life is unknown, as it is not seen again.
