Shadow Mari is first seen after the Four Guardians, Willham, and Mayo send Mildew to the Developer's Grove. She sent a beam of Shadow towards the Discussion Grounds and began to interrogate the Guardians and screeners. She demanded them to bring Mildew back down to The Void, but when they refused, she threatened to create life throughout The Void. As she continued to send beams of shadow throughout The Void, she gave life to all the Unused & Removed Features from the Drawn to Life Series. | − | {{Quote|text=Alright. If you really want to know, I’ll tell you. Willham and Mayo are the only ones who really know everything going on in my life so far, so it’s only fair to spread the knowledge around a bit more. I’ll start at the very beginning; the story I told Willham when we first met.
I don’t know what your canon memories are like, but mine are like a film set. Almost like canon was a movie. My only memory before The Void was Jowee’s nightmare, where Mari and Heather are missing. The scene was about to be filmed and then suddenly, I was here. The Void. Then I met Mayo.
She explained to me that The Void was where forgotten characters came to rest, but that a small group of characters lived on – herself, Willham, and the Guardians. She told me that she wanted my help making The Void something better for lost characters, and me – just then cut – was more than happy to make a world that wasn’t just drab, staticky, and white.
She told me to gather all the Shadow I could feel, and so I did. That was the start of the Shadow Hole. It was small at first, and then I felt more and more Shadow as time went on. You weren’t here for the conversation Willham had earlier, but the gist is this. The Void was shut down after the release of Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter, and I was able to avoid getting shut down with it by hiding in the Hole.
The next few years were just me in the darkness. I sat and waited for Mayo to come back at some point, but she never did. I grew angry at her, but that time alone only made me want to bring the lost characters to life even more, so I put my anger to the side.
One day, the lights flicked back on, and Willham, Mayo, and the Guardians came back. Eventually Mayo paid me a visit. She said there was a vote that day, and it was within earshot, so I should cause some ruckus when I heard my name. By that point, the Shadow Hole was really big, so I obliged. I heard my name and shot a beam of Shadow into the sky.
A few more rounds of voting, and Mayo told me it was time to put the plan into action. After the voting, she told me to break into the Discussion Grounds and bring everything back to life. So, I did.
You two know the rest of that chapter – the Droogles ran a campaign with the bosses to take over the Dev Grove, and Drakon tried to rope me into it. When Mayo realized that her plan was crumbling and Willham was going to destroy what I made, she told me to kill him, so I did.
That’s when I became the new Mayo. Her plan failed, but The Void persisted, so I took her place. I started working on projects with the Shadow around The Void to make them feel more welcome here. Her plan failed, but The Void persisted, so I took her place. I started working on projects with the Shadow around The Void to make them feel more welcome here. I used the Ink Pot as a pocket village for the Shadow, but one particular Shadow ruined it for everyone else.
The Jungle Creature was the thorn in my side until Salem Rose showed up. It caused so much havoc in the Ink Pot, so I eventually exiled it to the Baki Temple, where it roamed free until the Tree King broke it out. To be completely honest, I blame Salem Rose for the state of The Void right now. If he hadn’t attacked when he did, Willham and I could’ve stopped the Tree King’s group in their tracks.
Regardless, when Willham and I made it back to The Void after fighting Salem Rose in canon, we stopped the Tree King, but didn’t know the Jungle Creature had split into four parts. We only learned that much later, and by that point, we figured all four pieces had been dealt with. There was no malice there, just a lack of information.
Tombstone showing up was something I should’ve known to prepare for, but I didn’t. In a sense, you could say that this is my fault, and I wouldn’t exactly disagree. I know that nothing is going according to plan Fiora. We’ve lost two villages, and we don’t know where Tombstone is right now, but don’t think we’re gonna lose this war! I believe in everyone here and everyone in the Grove. The Void is, and always has been, the people in it. No matter what, we won’t lose.}} |
