SpongeBob Squarepants is the title character and a supporting character in [[Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition]], based on [[Wikipedia:SpongeBob SquarePants|Nickelodeon's TV series]]. In the game, SpongeBob is one of three helpers who can assist you in levels with the touch screen when X is pressed, with his helping move being a square-shield that can protect [[DoodlePants]] from a hit and break SpongeBob-marked boxes. He is also one of four characters playable in [[Multi-Card Play]].

Much like in the series, SpongeBob is a sea sponge with a yellow rectangular body shape filled with holes, better resembling a kitchen sponge. He typically wears attire comprising of rectangular brown pants, a white shirt, red tie, blue-red striped white socks and a black belt and shoes.

After [[DoodleBob]] is accidentally drawn back to life by [[Patrick]] and he steals a [[Magic Pencil]], SpongeBob brings DoodlePants to life with the second pencil. A gang of [[Doodle Dudes]] arrive at the scene and kidnap SpongeBob while Patrick is distracted by a jellyfish, and DoodlePants rushes off to rescue him. After meeting [[Squidward]] and observing the damage made to [[Bikini Bottom]], he and Patrick convince him to tag along with them on DoodlePants' quest to save Bikini Bottom by agreeing to fix his house and get his clarinet back.

The quartet approach DoodleBob upon reaching the [[Doodled Tower]]. After Squidward demands his clarinet back, SpongeBob suggests that DoodlePants talks to him, and they exchange a conversation in doodle language before DoodleBob runs off. After fighting [[Doodled]] off, DoodleBob runs off into [[The Jungle]] with a rocket and submarine. The group reach a drawn pyramid, where DoodleBob is approached and fought by DoodlePants. Before he is completely erased, DoodleBob runs off once more. The group suspect he escaped to either the {{SBWiki|Moon|Moon}} or [[Deep Sea]]. They find the submarine was left behind while the rocket was taken, so they go to the Deep Sea.

Upon their arrival at the Dutchman's Ship, the [[Flying Dutchman]] appears and accuses the group of controlling the Doodle Dudes who took over his ship. [[Doodle Patrick]] appears and convinces him this further, even while SpongeBob and Squidward try to prove him wrong. Patrick mistakenly reveals that he drew DoodleBob back to life, and the Dutchman puts them in charge of ridding the ship of the Doodle Dudes. Once he realized Doodle Patrick tricked him and took control of his ship, he tasks the group with ridding him. After Doodle Patrick's defeat, the Dutchman thanks them and SpongeBob bids him farewell.

The quartet heads back to Bikini Bottom, where they run into [[Sandy Cheeks|Sandy]]. She thanks them for rescuing her earlier, and SpongeBob asks if she'd let them borrow her rocket to go to the Moon. She declines, as they crashed it the {{SBWiki|Sandy's_Rocket#Synopsis|last time they used it}}, and suggests that they use the Magic Pencil to draw their own rocket instead. After traveling to [[Space]] in their newly-drawn rocket, they come across [[Bikini Doodle]], DoodleBob's drawn version of Bikini Bottom. After DoodlePants defeats DoodleBob a second time and Squidward gets his clarinet back, DoodleBob retreats to his rocket without the group realizing. SpongeBob tells DoodlePants to go after him, and the two fight once more on an [[Asteroid Battle|asteroid]] nearby. Upon his defeat, Squidward tries to erase him for good, only for SpongeBob to realize DoodleBob just wanted friends. He erases his mean face, replacing it with a much happier one. After declaring they're all friends now, SpongeBob waves goodbye to DoodleBob and DoodlePants before returning to Bikini Bottom.
