Veila Rheinschild is a 19 year-old female Genesis Raposa of Capital Village. As a Genesis Raposa—the first generation of Raposa, drawn to life by the Creator—Veila was created to be an expert in magic and use her unique mastery to aid her species. Her eventual creation of the Warp Gates, and research into levitation and healing spells, made it possible for her village to expand at a rate otherwise impossible and greatly improved the quality of life of her fellow villagers. Despite being renowned, past and present, as the single best magician of all time, Veila considered herself a mere stepping stone to her peers' successes and believed she had yet to achieve her ordained purpose to her full potential. Determined to refine her skills further to honor her creation, Veila worked tirelessly for years until her vigor led to her abrupt disappearance.

Story

Creation

Veila is a Genesis Raposa created (age 16) alongside the rest of her kind on the dawn of the fourth year. As a Genesis Raposa, Veila was tasked by the Creator with progressing her species and was granted a unique ability to aid her. Within the first week of creation, most of Veila's peers had discovered their purpose and abilities. Yet Veila, among the few who had yet to determine their ability, worked as a laborer, assisting in the construction of what would soon become Capital Village.

As seasons passed, the number of Raposa who had yet to discover their ordained purpose decreased until only Veila and her closest friend, Kodir, remained without. Though her village was kind, Veila thought herself inadequate compared to those around her with abilities she yet lacked.

Unwilling to become a burden, she embraced a lifestyle of self-sufficiency living alongside her best friend. However, a year later, Kodir discovered their purpose to Veila's greatest delight and melancholy. Though she was ecstatic for her best friend, the heavy burden of purposelessness now laid solely upon her shoulders.

Warp Gates

Fearful of failing her creation mandate and full of self-doubt, Veila adopted meditation to cope. This habit led to a surprising outcome for the young Raposa when she accidentally conjured a ball of light whilst meditating one night. Having discovered magic, Veila finally found her purpose: to master the art and mentor her village.

Veila spent the remainder of her free time studying the art. She learned quickly: Having been created to become an expert magician, understanding came naturally to Veila. After a short year, Veila—now 18—was a master and began tutoring her proud village. Determined to find new ways of assisting her species, she worked tirelessly inventing new spells and magic-powered devices.

A paramount example, and one leading to her notoriety, was that of the Warp Gates. Warp Gates, the evolution of her first basic levitation spell, allowed Raposa to traverse long distances instantly between other linked Gates. Treks that would take teams of Raposa days to traverse now could be made in mere seconds without need for bulky supplies. Naturally, this enabled her village to expand far beyond its original borders.

In her lifetime, Veila created four gates within Capital Village, each leading to newly discovered region: The Snow Gate, Forest Gate, Beach Gate, and the City Gate (so named as it would later become the main area of expansion for her village). Though the Gates had limitations (such that they could not transport cargo en mass), they were a boon to the growing village and would continue to see heavy usage centuries into the future.

Dissatisfaction

Though hailed as a hero, Veila was blind to the praise she accrued.

Creation

As other Raposa began discovering their purpose through their unique abilities and progressed society as ordained during their creation, Veila had yet to determine hers. It wasn't until years later that she finally found her purpose after she accidentally conjured a ball of light while meditating: to master the art of magic and mentor her village.

Though hailed as a hero, Veila was blind to the praise she accrued. As a Genesis Raposa, Veila had been endowed with an ability, unique to her, and directed to use it in benefit of her village. While her peers had discovered their own unique strengths—the ability to farm, build, lead, forge, etc.—relatively soon after creation, Veila spent years after everyone else in pursuit of her special trait. Viewing herself as only a burden during that time fueled Veila's desire to learn more, and work harder, later in life: Her high standards grew from her fear of not satisfying the reason for her creation.

However, despite her blessings, Veila was still a Raposa. Years passed since her unveiling of the Warp Gates and Veila struggled to produce further boons for her village. By now, many of her friends had moved on from their original duties, living lives of their own and starting families in the matured village. Yet, Veila found herself unable to move on with a life of her own, unsure that she had fully honored her duty to her village.

Musing

Veila's focus on her work eventually took a toll on her relationships as she began visiting friends and attending village festivals less and less. Though those close to her urged her to give up on magic, she pressed on nonetheless. Years passed, and a more mature Veila finally laid the groundwork for her next project: The Codex Perditus. Though her older spells and innovations were revolutionary, they all shared the same flaw: They were inaccessible to novices and required a disproportionate amount of magic to complete. For basic spells, this was no issue. However, more useful spells—such as the one to create Warp Gates—required years of training and the magic cost meant only a few could be created per year.

The Codex Perditus would solve both issues. A thorough document detailing all the spells Veila knew, the Codex would aid the understanding of even the most inept magic users. However, the tome would serve one larger purpose: to perform incantations on behalf of the user. This meant that even the most expensive spells, such as creating Warp Gates, could be performed by moderately skilled magic users without draining the local magic supply, allowing for even larger magic potential. The idea was sound, but it lacked one element: a steady source of powerful enough magic to fuel the tome.

The Book of Life

Veila knew the only sources of magic large enough to sustain the soon-to-be Codex's needs were objects drawn in by the Creator. Her options were limited.
