Drawn to Life Transcript

What follows is a complete transcript of Drawn to Life, including scene transitions and extra dialog from non-important characters. During the game, the player is sometimes presented with opportunities to respond to the game's characters by selecting predetermined dialog options. These moments will be shown in this transcript through Tabbers. Character emotion and actions will be expressed within parenthesis at the beginning or end of each character quote on this page, in correlation to the in-game sprite, emotion bubbles, or actions seen in the game at that time.

“Optional Dialogue” refers to dialogue that can be accessed through interacting with Raposa while the Hero is able to freely move about the village. Also, some quotes may be duplicated in certain sections of the game. In this case, the duplicated entries will not be shown in this transcript: this includes supplementary quotes by Generic Raposa Characters. For generic character quotes, instead see: Generic Raposa Characters/Quotes. By default, optional dialog is not shown.

Sections on this page are organized per-level. A new section begins as soon as the Hero enters a new level.

The player character, The Hero, will simply be referred to as "Hero" within this transcript. All grammatical/spelling errors within the game's script will be kept, as originally written, in this transcript. "Sic" is written in editor comments after such quotes.

Game Start

There are many stories to be told, but this one is special, this us our story.
Long before we Raposa existed, there was the Book of Life, the design of the Creator…
The Creator drew everything in this Book and brought it into existence.

First the Creator formed a circle and drew our world.

Then, the Creator populated the world with our beautiful forests.

Even we Raposa were drawn to life by the Creator’s hand.

But that’s all changed now. The darkness has come, and the Creator has abandoned us.
There’s no more need for this Book. There’s no more need for us…

Mari:Creator… We need your help…
The Eternal Flame just went out…
And the Darkness is creeping in.
You’re the only hope we have left…
Help us… Please…

Mari:
(Frustrated)Why don’t you respond! How could you just sit there and be silent!?
Now almost everyone has left the village…

Mari:
(Sad)You are the Creator of everything. This is your world!
Bring it back to what it once was! Please…

Creator:I have heard your cry and will provide a hero
to help restore the village.
But first, you must gather the villagers
and bring them to Creation Hall

Mari:
(Jumping)Is that really you!? After all this time!! I knew you would help us!
I’ll go find Jowee and my dad!

[Mari leaves her house]

Creator:I will not help you.

Mari:
(Sad)Then I guess it’s all over…
 

[Game ends]

Mari:
(Happy)Jowee!!! Jowee come quick!
 

[Mari looks around]

Mari:He’s not answering! Creator can you tap on his house and wake him up?

<Mari:Creator, can you tap on Jowee’s house?>

???:…What’s going on??

Jowee:Hey Mari… I was just taking a nap…

Mari:The Creator just spoke to me!

Jowee:
(Thinking)What?! That’s crazy! The Creator hasn’t spoken to anyone in years…
 

Mari:I’m supposed to gather everyone in front of Creation Hall! Where’s my dad?

Jowee:...At the gate, he was trying to convince Isaac and his wife to stay…

Mari:We have to stop them before they leave!

[Mari and Jowee walk off-screen - At the Village Gate]

Isaac:Losing the Eternal Flame was the last straw. Now my shop is covered in Darkness!

Mya:And now our daughter is gone! We have to find her...

Mayor:
(Thinking)I understand… But we should go out together.
 

Isaac:This can’t wait any longer… We’re leaving.

???:Stop! Dad!! We have to speak with you!

[Mari and Jowee walk on-screen]

Mayor:Oh Mari! And Jowee! I’m glad you’re here.
Isaac’s daughter went missing! They just left to go search for her.

Mari:Dad! The Creator just spoke to me!
The Creator told me to gather everyone and bring them in front of Creation Hall.

Mayor:
(Confused)Young Rapo, you’ve been talking about the Creator for months now… Let it go.
 

Mari:But Dad… It's true!!

Mayor:Mari… Stop… We have more important things to worry about.

Mari:You can’t be serious, Dad! What about the Creator!?

Jowee:I’m with Mari… We should at least give the Creator a chance!

Mayor:
(Angry)Mari! Stop with this nonsense!!
The Creator abandoned us a long time ago! The villagers are what’s important now!
 

[Mayor walks off-screen]

Mari:
(Sad)This is crazy! No one is listening to me!
You believe me Jowee… Don’t you…?
 

[Jowee backs away]

Jowee:Maybe we should listen to your pop… It’s Isaac’s daughter!

Mari:
(Angry)Fine then… I’ll go myself… No wonder the Creator abandoned us!
 

[Mari walks off-screen]

Jowee:Mari! Wait...!
Oh Rapo… What am I getting myself into!?

[Jowee follows Mari off-screen - At Creation Hall]

Mari:
(Sad)The door is still sealed!
 

[Jowee walks on-screen - Mari is angry]

Mari:
(Sad)The Creator told me to gather the villages here… But everyone is gone!
 

Jowee:
(Thinking)Uh… I’m still here…
Maybe you should ask the Creator for help?

Mari:Good idea! Creator… Could you open the door?

<Mari:I wonder what’s inside Creation Hall…
It’s been sealed for as long as I can remember...>

<Jowee:Only the Creator can open the door...>

[The door is unsealed]

Mari:Let's hurry inside.

[Mari and Jowee walk inside Creation Hall]

Jowee:Mari… Look at all these books…

Mari:Creator… Why did you bring us here? What do you need us to do?

Creator:Your request requires a hero…

Mari:A hero? Why do we need a hero? Just bring back the villagers and get rid of the Darkness…

Creator:Mari… Your father is in trouble

Jowee:
(Surprised)Who the Rapo was that? Was that the Creator?!
 

Mari:
(Sad)What?! My dad is in trouble?
 

Creator:I will explain more over time…

Mari:
(Sad)What?! My dad is in trouble?
 

Jowee:
(Surprised)Who the Rapo said that?!
 

Creator:I will create a hero to help you.

Jowee:
(Excited)Wow! The Creator spoke! Mari, you weren’t kidding!
 

Creator:Walk over to the wooden mannequin.
I fill this mannequin with my presence!
I will add color to its frame!
And movement to its joints!
Together, we will restore the village…

[Draw mode: Hero]

Jowee:
(Surprised)Wow! The mannequin came to life!!
 

Mari:
(Confused)Creator… Does it have a name?
 

Jowee:Hi Hero… Nice to meet you!

Mari:We need to go find my dad… The Creator said he was in trouble!

Jowee:Well, Hero… Show us what you can do!

[Hero dances and exits Creation Hall]

Mari:I guess we should follow!

[Mari and Jowee exit Creation Hall]

????:Where’s my mummy!!!

Jowee:That sounded like Isaac’s daughter, Cindi…

Mari:Hero, can you find Cindi? She must be close by…

<Mari:Have you looked behind any trees? That’s where I would hide!>

<Jowee:Cindi is probably hiding somewhere… She loves to play hide and seek!>

[Hero finds Cindi - Cindi runs to Mari]

Cindi:
(Confused)Mawi!!! It’s a monster wapo!!
 

Mari:It’s okay lil Rapo… Hero is only here to help…
Hero, thanks for finding Cindi… We should go find her parents now!
Meet us at the village entrance, okay? It’s to the South.

[Mari, Jowee, and Cindi walk off-screen - Hero follows]

Mari:Alright, let's go search the Snow Fields!

[Wilfre appears on the bridge]

????:...What do we have here? Silly Raposa? And their cute wittle creation?
You’re too late, the Mayor is already done for!

Mari:
(Angry)You better not hurt my dad!!
 

Jowee:Who the Rapo are you!?

????:No one told you a creepy bedtime story about me? Pity…
If you insignificant Rapos must know my name, it’s Wilfre.

Wilfre:You can forget about rebuilding this village.
I’ve torn up all the pages in the Book of Life…
They should be scattered around the world by now!
Anyway, I bid you farewell. I have much to attend to.
To be sure you don’t attempt a pathetic rescue, I’ll cover this bridge in Darkness.

[Wilfre covers the bridge in Shadow and walks off-screen]

Jowee:Oooh! That Wilfre!

Mari:…What do we do now?

Jowee:We should go find your dad… He’ll know what to do.
The village entrance is blocked by darkness…
We could use the village Snow Gate to get there…

Mari:Hero, meet us at the Snow Gate, OK?

Jowee:Yeah, it’s Northwest of here. Just follow the path until it ends!

Snow Gate

Mari:Hi Hero… This is the village Snow Gate…
We should probably stay behind… The Snow Fields can be dangerous!
Please save my dad… He shouldn’t be that far away…

Jowee:Just walk up to the gate and push it open!

<Jowee:Walk up to the gate and press (A)
Hurry and rescue the Mayor!>

<Mari:Walk up to the gate and press (A)>

<Cindi:Wupa…>

Snow Fields

Mayor:Who are you?!
Oh? ...A creation hero? So the Creator is back!
I was such a fool for not listening to Mari…
We should get back to the village… It’s dangerous here!

Mari:Dad! You made it back… I was so worried…

Mayor:All thanks to [HERO]… I’m sorry for leaving when I did.
I didn’t catch up with Isaac or his wife…
I hope they’re OK…

[Cindi walks into the Snow Gate]

Mari:Hero, Cindi ran into the Snow Fields! You need to bring her back!

Mayor:Hero, I found something in the Snow Fields that might help you…
It’s a Snowshooter page for the Book of Life…
The Creator can draw it for you!

[Draw mode: Snowshooter]

Mayor:You can aim using the +Control pad.
Hero, you’ll also see torn pages from the Book of Life in the Snow Fields…
You’ll need to collect four of them to exit the level gate…
Please hurry, Isaac and his family need your help!

<Jowee:Hey you did a pretty good job designing that Snowshooter!>

<Mari:Cool, is that a Snowshooter?>

<Mayor:Rescue Isaac and his family!>

Mt. Snowy

Isaac:You… you saved me! Thank the Creator!
I own a shop back in the village… I'll meet you at the exit gate!

Cindi:Monster wapo!!

Mya:Thank you so much, I was so scared!
What?! You rescued my daughter? Praise the Creator!!

Cindi:Mawi!

Mari:Cindi! We were so worried!

Cindi:I'm sowwy… I wanted to go find Mummy…

Mari:Well… You should know better then to run off by yourself!

Mayor:Isaac! I'm so glad you made it back…

Isaac:It's all thanks to Hero.
I didn't get very far before I ran into Wilfre…

Mayor:I can't believe Wilfre is still alive… After what he did to the Book of Life…

Jowee:What's the deal with that guy anyway…
We ran into him on the bridge, and he seemed to have control over the Darkness…

Mayor:Wilfre… He's the cause of this mess!

Flashback

Mayor:Oh… It was many years ago…
Several years before you were born, in fact…
Wilfre was a respected member of this village.
Always the center of attention…
Wilfre questioned why it was forbidden…
…to design our own creations.
…in the Book of Life
He told me that it could be done better…
What a fool I was…
for underestimating what he was capable of…
Wilfre snuck into Creation Hall…
and stole the Book of Life.
He took the Book back to his house.
and drew inside the pages…
But the creations came out twisted and black.
It wasn't long before I discovered his scheme…
We confronted him…
and in a furious rage…
he tore the pages from the Book of Life.
tossing them into the wind…
We surrounded him and grabbed the Book
but Wilfre escaped and fled the village
The Creator grieved over the loss…
and sealed Creation Hall…
and we were left to fend for ourselves.
I locked what remained of the Book away…
but it was too late.
The sun grew dim…
The moon and stars faded away…
And finally the Eternal Flame…
flickered and died out…
A creeping Shadow grew at the edge of our town.
And everyone left, in search of a new home.
All because of Wilfre…

[Flashback ends - Mayor, Isaac, Mari, Jowee, and Hero walk towards the Eternal Flame]

Mayor:Now I see… the lost pages…
In order to restore our village we need to collect those pages!

Isaac:I better get going… My shop is covered in Darkness…
Hero, you should visit after the Eternal Flame returns.

[Isaac walks off-screen]

Mayor:The Creator has given us a hero.
And you… my dear Mari… have given us all hope.

Jowee:
(Confused)Uh… We might have a small problem…
The pedestal for the Eternal Flame… It vanished.

Mayor:There should be a place for the Eternal Flame page in the Book of Life

[Mayor walks off-screen to retrieve the Book of Life, returning the pedestal page to the Book]

Mayor:Whew… It's back in… Now it's up to the Creator!

Mari:Creator, we need somewhere to keep the Eternal Flame!
Could you help us color in the Village Pedestal?

[Draw mode: Village Pedestal]

Mayor:The Village Pedestal looks amazing! Great Job!
Creator, would you like to choose the color of the Flame?

[A Flame color is selected - Isaac, Mya, and Cindi appear onscreen around the flame]

Mayor:The Eternal Flame is back!

Isaac:Now the Creator can clear the Darkness from around my shop!!

Mayor:Hero, thanks again for all your help…
Come see me again after the Darkness is cleared from Isaac's shop!

If the Eternal Flame is not yet tapped

<Jowee:Hey there! Isaac was looking for you…
You should visit his shop… Follow the path and go Southeast!>

<Mayor:I'm sorry for what I said about you earlier… I knew you'd come through for us!
I'm still figuring out what we should do next… Maybe you should go speak with Isaac…>

<Mari:I've lived in this village for my entire life…
One day it would be neat to see the world!
Isaac's shop is just South of here… You'll need to go around the clouds…>

<Isaac:Still Darkness… I bet the Eternal Flame could get rid of it!>

<Mya:My little Rapo should eat more then just cupcakes…
A balanced diet of Banya, Kori fruit, and fish will help her grow into a strong young Rapo.>

<Cindi:I want cupcakes! With sprinkwles and cweam!>

[Everyone walks off-screen - The Flame is tapped, turning the Darkness around Isaac's shop gray]

If the Eternal Flame is tapped, but no clouds have been removed

<Isaac:Ah, you're finally here!
The clouds over my shop have turned gray…
They haven't disappeared yet though… Maybe the Creator can clean them up for good?>

Isaac:The Creator did it! The Darkness is gone!

Isaac:
(Confused)The shop is quite a mess… I need some time to clean up…
Be sure to visit soon… I'm sure you'll find something worth your Rapo Tokens…

[Isaac walks into his shop]

Mari:Hi, Hero! Could you come over here?

[Hero walks toward Mari]

Mari:This is the village Wishing Well!
Jowee and I used to throw rocks in it when we were lil' Rapos!
Nothing happened… But once, Jowee dropped a Rapo Coin in there…
And five Rapo Coins popped out!
My dad yelled at us for playing here…
But I don't think he would mind if you used it!

Mari:If I had 10,000 Rapo Coins, I would just throw them all into the well!
…Maybe something fun would happen!
Hey… I was looking around Creation Hall while you were in the Snow Fields.
Meet me there, I wanna show you what I found!

[Mari walks off screen towards Creation Hall]

<Mayor:I think Mari wanted to speak with you about something…>

<Jowee:So… Hero… What do you think of Mari? She's a cool Rapo, eh?
Forget I said anything… >

Mari:Hero, thanks for coming…
So I was looking around inside Creation Hall…
…And found some old books with drawings…
Inside Creation Hall you can view what's been drawn in the Village.
And also create some new heros to help us out!
Go ahead and tap on Creation Hall…
Then when you're done, visit my dad!

<Mari:My dad has been looking for you… You better see what he wants!>

Mayor:So Isaac's shop is free of the Darkness? I guess he's here to stay now!
Excellent work… I've been doing some thinking…We had such a vibrant village before the sun disappeared…
If the Creator could design a new sun, then perhaps more villagers would return!

Mayor:Hrmm… Through the Village Snow Gate, and into the Snow Caves you go!

<Mayor:Return to the Snow Gate, and enter the Snow Caves. The pages should be nearby.>

[Hero walks towards the Snow Gate, but is stopped by Jowee.]

Jowee:
(Thinking)Hey… Hero… Uh… I had a question for you…
Maybe… I could come with you on your next adventure?
Ya know… Like a sidekick?

[Hero walks into the Snow Gate without responding.]

Jowee:
(Thinking)I guess Hero needs some time to think about it…
I have to convince Hero to take me along!
