–Aldark
Aldark is the successor to Wilfre as leader of the Shadow, and the main villain of Drawn to Life: Two Realms.
Unlike Wilfre, Aldark is the manefisation of Wilfre's darkness after it was expelled from the realm of the Raposa. Also unlike Wilfre, who relied on his cunning to manipulate others, Aldark instead uses his powers to alter the minds of his victims. His motives are not idealistic, believing firmly in the domination of the Shadow and the destruction of the Raposa, a stark contrast from his predecessor.
He spends most of his time attempting to manipulate Mike into forgetting about the Raposa forever.
Appearance
Aldark takes the form of a Shadow creature, being a tall, purple being. He lacks eyes but has a distinctive large smile formed out of incredibly sharp teeth. He wears a dark cloak with gold trimming. Around his neck hangs a gold key. Unlike Wilfre, he has no "regular" form, being comprised entirely of Shadow.
Story
Drawn to Life: Two Realms
After the events of Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter, the Shadow is expelled from the realm of the Raposa, entering the Human realm instead. After Mike awakens from his coma, Aldark begins to manipulate the townsfolk of Belleview in order to depress Mike, with the ultimate goal of making Mike want to forget about the Raposa forever, destroying their realm.
As with Wilfre, Aldark is challenged by the Creator and their creation Hero. This time, however, Aldark's intentions are so twisted that it attracts the opposition of Wilfre himself, who along with Mari, uncovers the Book of Imagination. Using this, the hero travels to the human realm to confront Aldark.
By the time the hero arrives, Aldark has already begun his plans to manipulate Mike. Although Mike is happy to once again see his Raposa friends, his mental health turns sour once Aldark manipulates Mike's only human friend, Aly, into abandoning him. For a time, Mike is indispensable, but with the help of the Raposa, the hero, and the townsfolk of Belleview, Mike is able to overcome his inner demons and confront Aldark. In the end, the hero and Mike are successful, defeating Aldark, who fades away while predicting the eventual return of the Shadow.
Trivia
- Aldark's name follows the same naming convention as Wilfre. Although Wilfre's name is a pun on "free will", Aldark's name is "all dark", representing his less idealistic nature.
- Aldark is the second canonical main villain in the series, with Circi and Doodlebob forming the other two non-canon examples.
- Unlike Wilfre, Aldark is never battled in a traditional boss fight. This is also true of Circi.
- Similarly, Aldark does not send bosses to fight the Hero as Wilfre did.
- Aldark's various Shadow creatures appear noticeably different from Wilfre's. This is perhaps due to his more aggressive and malicious nature.
- There is a design inconsistency between the game and official art. In-game, Aldark's cloak is depicted as a dark green, but in official art is depicted as purple.
