Marzell Heinnen (pronounced Mar-zell Hein-nen) is a 22-year-old male Raposa of ForestStream and the first Shadow user since Wilfre.
Having been born centuries after The Purge, Marzell grew up in a world where magic was no longer practiced and thought of only as an ancient art. This changed when Marzell discovered an ancient artifact created by Veila Rheinschild which contained her soul. Through the destruction of this artifact, Marzell released all the magic stored within it, absorbing much of it in addition to the lost soul. This inadvertently granted him the ability to use Shadow magic and allowed him to communicate with Veila. With world-wide magic levels now on the rise due to his actions, Marzell is stuck between his desire to live a normal, unassuming, life and being the most important, and controversial, magic subject of recent time.
Appearance
Marzell is a young-adult male Raposa of average height and lean build. He stands at 6ft 5in including ear height, and 5ft 8in without.
Marzell has blue eyes, long dark-grey fur, and tan skin. He has medium-length curly hair that he often styles with his bangs swept to his right. Being a male Raposa, his hair and fur colors are the same, with his hair appearing only slightly darker. Additionally, he has a small tuft of fur on the center of his neck.
White subsidiary fur covers his chest and stomach area.
Marzell's go-to outfit consists of an orange and white, short-sleeve, button shirt that he keeps unbuttoned down his upper-chest; slim-fit faded blue jeans; and high-top converse shoes.
When using Shadow, Marzells eye's glow red. Without being covered in Shadow, the shift in eye color is the only indication of him using his Shadow magic.
As a Shadow user, Marzell possesses a Shadow form in which he can cover himself in a protective layer of Shadow. When doing so, he appears similarly to a Shadow Walker with Raposa ears, or like Wilfre.
Story
Marzell was born in King's Grant, ForestStream on Winter 43, 580. Growing up, Marzell enjoyed an average home-life, getting along well with his family and friends, though struggling academically. Throughout middle-school, Marzell became interested in swimming after regularly hanging out by creek near his home with his best friend. Only skirting by in his studies and risking a failing grade, Marzell signed up for his school's freshman varsity swim team for extra credit. Throughout high-school, Marzell held a leading position among all competing swim teams in his region, earning him a fair share of college scholarships and recognition.
Upon graduation, Marzell immediately began work at a local recreation center as a lifeguard. Easily qualifying, he intended to work until he could pay the rest of his way through college as an oceanographer. However, just a year following, he and his family were involved in an accident whilst vacationing. Marzell's mother, as part of her work, brought the Codex Perditus to study and, unaware of its power or history, accidentally activated it. In a flash of blinding light, the book summoned a shadow apparition which caused the family vehicle to crash. Marzell and his younger brother survived with injuries but were pursued by the Shadow creature. Desperate to protect his brother, Marzell made his way to the Codex Perditus and ripped it apart. The magic stored within the book poured out into the environment around it. Still, a small fraction of the magic—including Veila's soul—was absorbed by him instead.
