Hard Prompt
Create a new warp gate region!
For this prompt, you will create a new warp gate region, similar (but not limited) to the ones seen in the original game. Write a short description for your region (how it works, and how it's unique), draw the map layout, show who/what lives there, and point out some of the levels in your region - the rest is up to you! Unlike the other prompts, this one is split into four requirements:
1. Draw a map of the region, as well as the gate itself. This is kind of obvious, but we need to be able to see the region itself. It should similar to the warp gate maps featured in the first game. Be sure to make the region and the gate look unique and interesting! The style doesn't matter as long as you showcase your region’s style!
2. Name and draw previews of at least 3 levels and pinpoint them on the map. The previews can be done in multiple different styles that you can choose from. The first is how they're previewed on the map in the first game, the second is how they're previewed in TNC. You may even draw a title card similar to the first and wii games. Any of these are fine, and you may do anywhere between one and all of them.
3. Come up with at least 3 enemies and/or characters that are living in this region. What makes them unique to the region? Do they have names? What do they look like? What exactly do they do?
4. Write about your warp gate region and how it functions. Just give a summary, at least a paragraph, detailing aspects of the region you'd like to show. (For example: where is it located? what lives there? what kind of gimmicks does it have?) We won't be judging grammar, so don't worry. We just want to know all about your creation. - Submissions will be judged based on ability, detail, and immersion, and impact.

The Pirate Gate is a region bustling with treasure, exploration, and aggressive enemies. To the northwest of the map, the port village of Seaport resides and acts as a place of rest and restock for travelers—may they be merchants, pirates, or people just passing through the area. The warp gate itself would either be a subset of the Beach Gate or present off the shore of the Raposa Village and more difficult to get to without a boat or swimgear. Raposa, Baki (specifically Pirate, Aquatic, Sand, and the unique Merbaki variants), and sea creatures mostly inhabit the area due to its large bodies of water, it’s smaller island regions, and Seaport. There are three primary gimmicks to the area: The Golden Mermaid (the large pirate ship in the center of the map) acting as both a stage hazard in land sections and as a boss arena, sailboat sections to travel over bodies of water in levels if you can’t swim down, and the aggressive fish enemies that lurk deep beneath the water’s surface that will dash, spin, and slash at intruders into their territory. There are many secrets and treasures beneath the waves that a careful and cautious treasure hunter would be able to loot with the correct tact and defense. The main boss of the area, Captain Treasure of the Golden Mermaid, makes it difficult to easily go into Seaport without a fight.

Characters:
Captain Treasure
- Captain Treasure Swashbuckler is a Raposa resident of the Pirate Gate and the Boss of the area. Her ship, the Golden Mermaid, serves as both a boss arena and a stage hazard as her ship shoots cannonballs at the Hero from the waves in land sections as long as her view isn’t obscured. She’s very aggressive towards intruders who are outsiders to the seas of the area and is relentless in her attempts to protect it. She’s known to be very brash, stubborn, and hardheaded, but is a responsible and clever leader and skilled with a divide-and-conquer approach when it comes to strategy and dealing with her foes. Despite the Pirate Queen’s relentless tactics, she is very honorable and dislikes the concept of pirates plundering villages and from people who don’t deserve it. She has two cutlasses, which she can dual wield if needed, and has a hand crossbow for ranged attacks.
Dubloon
- Dubloon Swashbuckler is a Raposa resident of the Pirate Gate and the son of the Mayor of Seaport. He will take over the village in his father’s place when he passes away. Treasure is his older twin sister, though the pair of them have a heated rivalry. He’s very analytical and calm compared to his sister, and knows how to expect her movements and exploit her weak points. He can be found in the Glimmerin’ Grotto level, where he is looking for resources to solve some matters of defense and supply in Seaport, in part due to Treasure’s habit to guard the area and make it difficult for travelers to come into town.
Shantee
- Shantee is a Raposa resident of the Pirate Gate and a villager of Seaport. She’s a dancer who enjoys beachcombing on the other islands present in the area to find shells and washed up treasure to make accessories and crafts out of. She can be found in the Stealthy Shore level, where she is looking for shells for her next creative project.
Enemies:
Sharkbate
- Sharkbate is an aquatic enemy unique to the Pirate Gate. It primarily uses its anchor shaped tail to slam down into its enemies and additionally uses a spinning attack to strike and cut. It is predominantly in water-based sections in wide open spaces. It does have a bite attack but it’s mostly used in close quarters. It takes three hits to take it out.
Sharpfish
- Sharpfish is an aquatic enemy unique to the Pirate Gate. It is an aggressive enemy that uses its sword-shaped nose and variety of sharp fins to rush in and pierce or slash into enemies. It is predominantly in deeper water-based sections with less space and horizontal passages. In close quarters, it will mostly use its tail to attack. It takes three hits to take it out.
Merbaki
- The Merbaki is an aquatic variant of a Baki unique to the Pirate Gate. Unlike most of its cousins, the Merbaki has a tail instead of legs. They tend to swim around and wander, and are in shallow water sections on land as well as in deeper-water based sections. They tend to swim back and forth or up and down. Like it’s cousins, they only take one hit to take out.

I designed a sky world. The actual bottom is based on the predrawn world in Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter (Wii). I was tempted to add in tiny raposa, but I don't think I have the time, unfortunately. It felt really good to make this, I loved it.
