Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition is a non-canon Drawn to Life spin-off game published by THQ under their PlayTHQ label and developed by Altron, based on the season 2 SpongeBob episode "Frankendoodle". There are many similarities between this title and the original Drawn to Life; for instance, three villagers are rescued in levels, and the game's hero, DoodlePants, must clear Doodle Scribble as they traverse the stage.

 +
DoodlePants is the title given to the player's character in Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition. DoodlePants is drawn by the Spongebob after DoodleBob is revived, and DoodlePants must travel through the game's five worlds to stop him and the Doodle Dudes from scribbling all over Bikini Bottom and beyond.
 +

 +
Much like the main Drawn to Life hero, DoodlePants can run, jump and punch their way through the stages. However, they're also able to equip powerups and get assistance from helpers activated via the Touch Screen. In every level, DoodleBob must erase the Doodle Scribble spread throughout the stage and rescue at least one hidden Bikini Bottom resident.

DoodlePants isn't depicted with a specific design in the official artwork, as their design is determined by the player. Like the Hero, they have a typical bone structure - a head, two arms, a torso and two legs - although none of them can be altered. DoodlePants is roughly as tall as most Bikini Bottom residents, and is taller than most enemies. DoodlePants has 12 templates to choose from, the smallest amount in the series.

PalettePowerups
 +
Powerups are a feature exclusive to Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition, and are retrieved in certain levels where they can also be designed by the player. There are 11 powerups in total, none of which have a drawn template. All of these can be purchased at the Krusty Krab upon being unlocked. All but the Suits have a time limit.

The game follows up directly from Frankendoodle. It begins with the clumsy artist once again at sea with two Magic Pencils this time, only to drop them into the ocean as he did before. One of the pencils lands on Patrick's head, while he was practicing his counting, as the other pencil lands a far distance behind him. Patrick remembers that the pencil is a magical one that can bring drawings to life, while trying to remember that there is one thing that he is not allowed to draw. He sketches the forbidden drawing on the ground trying to remember it, which turns out to be DoodleBob, the SpongeBob caricature and main antagonist from the episode. He springs back to life, stealing Patrick's pencil and running off to downtown Bikini Bottom in the process. Patrick contemplates what he had done as SpongeBob arrives at the scene, realizing what happened after overhearing him and freaking out. Upon trying to come up with a solution, he finds the second pencil, which he and Patrick can use to draw a hero to fend off DoodleBob's mania. This is where the player is able to draw their hero, which SpongeBob and Patrick name DoodlePants. Shortly after their creation, Patrick is distracted by a Jellyfish swarming past and doesn't notice SpongeBob getting captured by DoodleBob's Doodle Dude army.

After SpongeBob's rescue in the Tutorial, the trio arrive at Bikini Bottom and observe the damages done by the Doodle Dudes. They are approached by Squidward, who informs them that that Bikini Bottom is in complete turmoil ever since DoodleBob's return, and that he stole his clarinet. DoodlePants then must try to bring all of the Bikini Bottom residents back. After four levels, DoodlePants, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward arrive at the Doodled Tower, which was where the Doodle Dudes were being made, and encounter DoodleBob. Squidward demands him to give him back his clarinet, but DoodleBob doesn't understand what he's saying, so SpongeBob gets the idea to have DoodlePants speak to him in Doodle Language instead. After the two Doodles engage in a conversation for some time, Squidward gets tired of waiting and DoodlePob runs off, but not before spawning the first boss in the game, Doodled. DoodlePants climbs to the top of the building and fights the Doodle robot until it's fully erased. Upon it's defeat, the group realizes DoodleBob drew a rocket and submarine, and use a trail of Doodle tracks to lead them to The Jungle. The group reaches a drawn Pyramid, which is DoodleBob is revealed to be hiding. DoodlePants goes in to fight DoodleBob, but before he is fully erased (1% left), he runs out of the pyramid and disappears. The group suspects that either DoodleBob used the submarine to go to the Deep Sea, or the rocket to the Moon. They come to the conclusion that they need to head to Deep Sea first, where they encounter Rock Bottom and the Flying Dutchman's Graveyard.

The Helmet protects DoodlePants' head, rendering their top half invincible against enemies and ceiling spikes.

When they reach the Dutchman's Ship, he approaches the quartet and accuses they are responsible for Doodle Dudes taking over his ship. He is informed of this by Doodle Patrick, Patrick's much more intelligent drawn doppleganger. The group denies this and try to reason with the Dutchman, only for Patrick to mistakenly slip out that he brought DoodleBob back to life. The Dutchman is convinced that it's their fault because of this, and puts the group in charge of getting rid of the Doodle Dudes from his ship. After they're cleared, the Dutchman thanks the group to Doodle Patrick's dismay. Squidward finally reveals that he had tricked the Dutchman, who admits he had some nerve, before he takes over the ship by force. DoodlePants fights Doodle Patrick inside the ship and fully erases him, restoring the ship's control to the Dutchman. He thanks the group and bids them farewell, and they return to Bikini Bottom to prepare to go to Space. Sandy, who DoodlePants rescued in a prior stage, shows up to thank them for her rescue. SpongeBob asks her to lend them her rocket, only for her to refuse because of what SpongeBob and Patrick did to it the last time. She suggests using the Magic Pencil in their possession to create a rocket instead, which the group didn't think of before. Upon drawing one to life, the gang travels to the Moon to catch up with DoodleBob. They encounter Bikini Doodle, a sketched version of Bikini Bottom that DoodleBob drew on the moon, and catch up to DoodleBob a second time. The fight DoodlePants partakes with DoodleBob results in another victory at DoodlePants' end, and the trio celebrates his capture - while Squidward also celebrates getting his clarinet back. While their backs are turned, however, DoodleBob sneaks past them and escapes via the rocket he used before, despite Patrick trying to warn them. DoodlePants chases him once again through space, and lands on an asteroid close to the moon where the final battle, Asteroid Battle, takes place. DoodleBob is gigantic and has an evil, Doodle-coated face and evil red eyes, and sends smaller clones of himself to assist him in fighting DoodlePants off. After Doodlepants defeats him once more, Squidward attempts to erase him for good, only for SpongeBob to realize that DoodleBob created Bikini Doodle because he was very lonely. He gets the idea to erase his mean face and turn him happy, and SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward part ways with DoodlePants, who stays behind to keep DoodleBob company.

The Bubble Blower shoots bubbles in a rising arc, acting as a projectile for enemies and boxes.

After the player beats the 4 main worlds (Bikini Bottom, The Jungle, Deep Sea, and Space), a fifth post-game world called Notebook Land is unlocked. In Notebook Land, there are just two stages; the first of which is the last standard level in the game, Note World. Here, the world can change direction via the Warp Apparatus, which also affects the D-Pad controls, and acts as a gauntlet of all the skills the player learned throughout the game. There is also a boss in this world, Last Battle, where Squid Doodle - the second drawing brought to life in Frankendoodle - is fought. After the main campaign concludes, the player is free to find and rescue any Bikini Bottom Home townsfolk they missed, clear any Doodle Goo that they might have overlooked, collect coins to buy color palettes or Coloring Book Mode and Draw SpongeBob pages, and replay any level in the game.

 +
After Patrick accidentally redraws DoodleBob back into existence and he steals one of the Magic Pencils, SpongeBob gets the idea to draw a hero to stop him using the second Pencil. DoodlePants is then bought to life, and SpongeBob looks at them in awe before being captured by Doodle Dudes, right as Patrick gets distracted by a jellyfish. After SpongeBob is rescued, the trio observe the damage made to Bikini Bottom and run into Squidward, who joins them to get his stolen clarinet back. After Squidward joins them and DoodlePants picks one of three helpers, they set out to rescue the citizens. The first one saved is Mr. Krabs, who reopens the Krusty Krab and acts as the in-game shopkeeper for the remainder of the game. Upon reaching Doodled Tower, the group runs into DoodleBob, and Squidward demands his clarinet gets given back. SpongeBob suggests DoodlePants speaks to him in Doodle Language, which ends up failing as DoodleBob escapes with a rocket and submarine, leaving the Doodled boss in his wake.
 +

 +
Upon Doodled's defeat, the group notice footsteps leading to The Jungle, and head straight there. They eventually come across a drawn pyramid, which turned out to be DoodleBob's hiding spot. DoodlePants engages in a fight with him and wins, leading to DoodleBob escaping again as Patrick is distracted. After realizing he would've either escaped to the Deep Sea and the Moon, Squidward suggests they go to the former. After reaching Dutchman Deck, the Flying Dutchman appears and accuses the group of taking over his ship. It's revealed that Doodle Patrick, an intelligent caricature of Patrick, had tricked the Dutchman and is behind the takeover. After Patrick mistakenly reveals that he drew DoodleBob back to life, the Dutchman tasks DoodlePants with ridding the ship of the invading Doodle Dudes. After accomplishing this, the group finally convinces the Dutchman that he had been tricked, and Doodle Patrick begins to fight DoodlePants, only to be erased upon his defeat.
 +

 +
The Dutchman thanks the group and bids them farewell, and they head back to Bikini Bottom. Sandy approaches them and gives her thanks for rescuing her in Below Deck, and SpongeBob asks if they could borrow her rocket to go to the moon. After she says no due to what happened last time, they draw a new rocket instead after she suggests it. The group arrive at Bikini Doodle, a sketched Bikini Bottom drawn by DoodleBob on the moon, and they run into him once more. After his second defeat and Squidward gets his clarinet back, he flees in his rocket, and DoodlePants flies after him. They battle one last time on a nearby asteroid, where DoodleBob is finally beaten after DoodlePants uses the Magic Pencil on him. DoodleBob's mean face is replaced with a much happier one, and DoodlePants resides in Bikini Doodle to keep him company as SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward bid them farewell.

TowerIcon.png Appearance[edit]

DoodlePants isn't depicted with a specific design in the official artwork, as their design is determined by the player. Like the Hero, they have a typical bone structure - a head, two arms, a torso and two legs - although none of them can be altered. DoodlePants is roughly as tall as most Bikini Bottom residents, and is taller than most enemies. DoodlePants has 12 templates to choose from, the smallest amount in the series.

CreationIcon.pngPowerups[edit]

Powerups are a feature exclusive to Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition, and are retrieved in certain levels where they can also be designed by the player. There are 11 powerups in total, none of which have a drawn template. All of these can be purchased at the Krusty Krab upon being unlocked. All but the Suits have a time limit.

DTLSPKarateGloveIcon.png Karate Glove[edit]

The Karate Glove increases the strength of DoodlePants' punch, making it easier to defeat enemies and making Karate Glove-marked boxes breakable.

DTLSPHelmetIcon.png Helmet[edit]

The Helmet protects DoodlePants' head, rendering their top half invincible against enemies and ceiling spikes.

DTLSPBubbleBlowerIcon.png Bubble Blower[edit]

The Bubble Blower shoots bubbles in a rising arc, acting as a projectile for enemies and boxes.

DTLSPJellyfishNetIcon.png Jellyfish Net[edit]

The Jellyfish Net acts as both a melee weapon against enemies and a net for catching projectiles.

DTLSPSpikeShoesIcon.png Spike Shoes[edit]

The Spike Shoes protect DoodlePants from floor spikes, and make enemies more vulnerable to stomping.

DTLSPHoppingBootsIcon.png Hopping Shoes[edit]

The Hopping Shoes cause DoodlePants to constantly hop around, making their jump higher and Hopping Shoes-marked boxes breakable.

DTLSPFeatherHatIcon.png Feather Hat[edit]

The Feather Hat slows DoodlePants' fall for a brief moment after a jump, causing them to glide before dropping at normal speed.

DTLSPNinjaShoesIcon.png Ninja Shoes[edit]

The Ninja Shoes cause DoodlePants to run faster and wall jump, making it easier to reach far-off places.

DTLSPNinjaMaskIcon.png Ninja Mask[edit]

The Ninja Mask allows DoodlePants to hide from enemies by crouching, making them briefly invincible in this position.

DTLSPSuperHeroSuitIcon.png Super Hero Suit[edit]

The Super Hero Suit allows DoodlePants to double jump and throw projectiles, as well as glide after jumping like the Feather Hat. This powerup is required to complete the Doodle Revenge boss stage.

DTLSPNinjaSuitIcon.png Ninja Suit[edit]

The Ninja Suit combines the Karate Glove, Ninja Shoes and Ninja Mask, making DoodlePants stronger and more agile. This powerup is required to complete the Note World bonus stage.

DTLSBPencilIcon.png Magic Pencil[edit]

The Magic Pencil is used exclusively in the third and final battle against DoodleBob, Asteroid Battle. DoodlePants uses the eraser on the back to whack DoodleBob and his spawned clones until the Doodle Scribble he's coated with is erased and he is eventually defeated.

NoteIcon.png Helpers[edit]

Helpers is a feature exclusive to Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition. After Squidward joins the group, the player must choose one of three characters - SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward - to go with them in each level. Upon hitting the X button, the player can activate the helper move with the touch screen.

DTLSBHELPER.png SpongeBob[edit]

SpongeBob can create a square barrier around DoodlePants to shield them for a brief period of time, and break SpongeBob-marked boxes.

DTLPatrickHelperNeutral.png Patrick[edit]

Patrick can attack enemies in a path drawn on the touch screen, and break Patrick-marked boxes.

DTLSquidwardHelperNeutral.png Squidward[edit]

Squidward can blast musical notes out from his clarinet to attack nearby enemies, and break Squidward-marked boxes.

Book Icon.png Story[edit]
