Draw your Snowshooter!

–Design Prompt

The Snowshooter is the first and most basic weapon in Drawn to Life, and is used in the first set of levels in the Snow Gate. The Template for the Snowshooter is obtained from the Mayor after the Hero rescues him from the Snow Fields.

It uses snowballs as ammunition and fires them in a straight line from the player, dealing one HeartSmall Small.png of damage on impact. To restock on snowballs, The Hero has to perform a Ground Bounce on snow piles found throughout the Snow Gate levels.  Small snow piles will restore 5 snowballs worth of ammunition, whilst large snow piles will restore 10. The player initially starts off with 30 snowballs.

It is later upgraded by both Isaac and the Creator to create the Acorn Blaster, which is used in the Forest Gate.

TowerIcon.png Appearance

Due to the Snowshooter being a creation object and having no pre-drawn preset or guide, the appearance of this object is completely dependent on the player.

They are, however, still confined to a vaguely gun-shaped area.

NoteIcon.png Tips

  • The Snowshooter can be aimed in increments of 45 degrees from the player, allowing them to fire straight ahead, upwards, or diagonally.
  • Since snowballs from the Snowshooter travel in a straight line, it can be used to dispatch distant enemies from the player, such as Shadow Bats.
  • Snowballs will also slowly dissipate as they travel further from the player. While this does not affect the damage done, it does limit their range.
    • However, they do no fully disappear until well off screen, which gives the player plenty of space to aim.

Trivia

  • It is possible to kill multiple enemies at once using a single snowball if the enemies occupy the same space.
  • The Snowshooter can fire faster than any other weapon in Drawn to Life.
  • Unlike other creations' templates, where the player has to find and collect the four pieces of the Template within a stage, the Snowshooter's Template is given to the player by the Mayor after they have completed the "tutorial" level.
  • Snowballs will make a "Splat" noise when hitting an obstacle, such as a wall.
  • During the introductory sequence to battling Frostwind, the Snowshooter is knocked out of the Hero's hand, but is retrieved before the actual battle starts.
