–505Games Description
Drawn to Life: The Final Chapter is the sequel to Drawn to Life: Two Realms, developed by C's Entertainment and Digital Continue, with contributions from OpenAI, and published by 505 Games. It is the 4th canon game in the Drawn to Life Series and the 8th Drawn to Life game overall.
The game is available in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
Gameplay[edit]
Drawn to Life: The Final Chapter returns to the series roots, with gameplay incredibly similar to the original Drawn to Life. Once again, you play as a Hero that you, the player, draws into the game. Much like the original game, the gameplay is divided into three modes.
Village Mode[edit]
Five top-down hub areas where the player progresses the story, interacts with the Raposa, purchases items from the various item shops, and also accesses levels. Players draw different items at the Raposa's request to enrich their villages. Over the course of the game in village mode, the player will play some mini-games, search for lost children, and help the Raposa of the villages thrive. Here players are given their objective for the next Adventure Mode level.
Adventure Mode[edit]
A side-scrolling platformer, laid out into thirty-six unique levels. Adventure Mode is where the majority of gameplay is done. Here the player battles enemies, rescues lost Raposa, and collects items. Players draw unique platforms that allow the player the progress through the level and reach the goal. Bosses are also battled through this mode. There are five different worlds: the Town of Maradyn, Willowbrook, Rapoville, the Lost City of Yul, and Belleview, each with their own boss. There is also a sixth world, entitled the "Raposa Realm", that features harder versions of previous levels and the final boss.
In this game, Adventure Mode also introduces a new gimmick - the five books. Throughout the game, the player will come across five different books: the Book of Life, the Book of Sight, the Book of Void, the Book of Death, and Book of Imagination. Each of the heroes that the player controls wields one of these books, and the player can switch between them, much like forms or weapons from previous games. Each book will allow the Hero to gain a different ability, such as the Book of Life allowing the Hero to clear Shadow and the Book of Void allowing the Hero to vanish momentarily.
Draw Mode[edit]
The tool, similar to a robust version Microsoft Paint, through which players use to create new objects, weapons and even their Hero. This is done through the stylus and touch screen input. Once drawn, objects and the Hero itself will animate through the game's own design. The player can design up to three different humanoid heroes using a variety of colors, patterns and stamps. Character creation also features thirty or so pre-made character templates which can be traced, or have their body parts swapped in and used for those people who are less artistic. An interesting side feature to Draw Mode is that the game's title screen can be drawn and saved, so players can make their own unique title screen. Players can also trade their drawn heroes and other objects via the internet.
Story[edit]
The game begins with Mari thanking the Creator for Rapoville's prosperity after Aldark's disappearance. She then goes on to tell Mike about the two new villages Rapoville has made contact with, the Town of Maradyn and Willowbrook, and she explains the return of Turtle Rock. She also tells him about these villages Creation Heroes - Luna and Iora respectively. Afterwards, Mike visits Creation Hall in the village where he meets a mysterious Raposa named "Will". Mike asks what he's doing in Creation Hall, and "Will" explains that he plans to set Mike free. Mike is confused, but "Will" holds up Heather's Pendant, which had been missing for many years. Mike asks how he found that, but "Will" ignores him, calling upon the power of the Darkstone. Suddenly, the pendant glows a dark black, and Creation Hall starts to become a bleak grey. "Will" collapses to the ground, revealing that it was actually Aldark hiding inside Wilfre's body. Using the power of the pendant, Aldark summons his two generals - the Evil Sorcerer Mortus and the Overlord Nocturna - and he dispatches them to Maradyn and Willowbrook respectively. He also unleashes the giant Shadow Beast on the village, plunging the rest of the village in darkness. Aldark then escapes to the Human realm using the Book of Imagination, taking Mike's body as his own.
Meanwhile, Mari and Jowee are able to round up some Raposa to escape onto Turtle Rock, including Isaac, Pirate Beard, Zsasha, Mildew, Kyren, and Samuel. They are also able to take Wilfre's unconscious body with them. Mari calls upon the power of the Book of Life to create a new Hero, and the Hero explores underneath Turtle Rock as Wilfre wakes up. He explains to them that Aldark forced his way back into Wilfre's body in his weakened state, using the energy from the Book of Imagination. Wilfre explains that Aldark plans to corrupt Rapoville so that no one could stop him. Jowee asks what they could do to stop the Darkstone, and Wilfre tells them about the Four Elemental Shards, the only things that can negate the power of the Darkstone. Wilfre says he doesn't know where they are, but that they should head to Maradyn to stop Mortus from destroying their Creation Hall as well.
When Turtle Rock docks at Maradyn, the group finds the heart of the village already covered in Shadow, so they try to enter another way. After exploring a bit, the group comes across a small group of Raposa that managed to escape from the battle Mortus started. The leader of this group, Lyle, helps point the Hero in the right direction. Eventually, the Hero encounters Luna, who was using the power of her Book of Sight to fight against the monsters. She teams up with the Hero and the two of them fight together to take out Mortus. Before he absconds, he tells the group that it's too late to stop Aldark's plans. Meanwhile, in Belleview, Aldark, possessing Mike's body, goes home to find Heather, Tony, and Aly waiting for him. They tell Mike that he was gone for a week and were worried sick, but Aldark ignores them, sending Shadow creatures to directly possess Tony and Aly, as Heather had stormed upstairs.
Back in the Raposa realm, Luna and Lyle's group joins the group on Turtle Rock, and Wilfre directs them to Willowbrook to stop Nocturna. When they arrive, Luna, Lyle, Mari, Jowee, and the Hero leave Turtle Rock to explore the massive city, but find it stuck in a three-sided war. One group is Overlord Nocturna's army, one group is a group of Light creatures called The Forgotten, and one is a Raposa faction lead by Iora, fighting against the Light and the Shadow. On the way to Willowbrook's Creation Hall, the group meets up with Iora, a Shadow Walker named Abyss who has no interest in fighting, and a Forgotten named General Gaia. The three of them work together with the Hero and Luna to stop Nocturna, who tells the group that Aldark has already won at this rate. In the Human realm, Aldark, now having corrupted all of Belleview, sheds Mike and leaves the town with a group of Shadow Humans to go corrupt neighboring villages.
On Turtle Rock, Wilfre explains the situation to the Maradyn and Willowbrook natives, and Luna and Iora explain that they have two of the elemental shards in their books. The Light Shard resting in the Book of Sight, and the Space Shard resting in Iora's Book of Void Mari watches as they release the shards from their Books, so she decides to try to pull a shard from the Book of Life, revealing the Color Shard. With three of the four shards, and no other leads, the group returns to Rapoville. Once there, the group journeys through the different gates, eventually enlisting the help of Frostwind to clear some of the Shadow around the village. Now able to fight the Shadow Beast, the Heroes journey to Creation Hall, taking down the monster. After the beast is defeated, the group runs inside Creation Hall, finding Heather's Pendant still floating in the air above the mannequin. The group raises the three shards to the Darkstone, but they have no effect, and the exposure to the Darkstone causes Abyss to become violent. The group retreats to Turtle Rock once more, unfortunately leaving Lyle's group and Pirate Beard behind. Wilfre tells the group about a hideout Aldark used to have in the Lost City of Yul, and suggests trying there.
When they arrive at the city, Wilfre tells the Raposa to stay on Turtle Rock as he and the heroes venture into the depths of the city. Unbeknownst to him, Zsasha and Kyren join the group on their journey, being kidnapped along the way, forcing the group to divert to The Dungeons to rescue them. However, they also find a disheveled Raposa named Raat. Raat tells the group that Mortus and Nocturna have been meeting in the lowest level of the city, so the heroes journey down to fight them. This time, they defeat the generals for good, stealing their main weapons, Mortus' Book of Death and Nocturna's Tormentor's Blade. The group returns to Rapoville after extracting the Shadow Shard from the Book of Death. The group uses the four shards to deactivate the Darkstone, restoring peace to the Raposa realm, but Wilfre worries about the safety of the Human realm. Using the Book of Imagination, he tells the three heroes to go help Mike, but Iora reveals that she isn't actually a Creation Hero, so she cannot go.
In the Human realm, the Hero and Luna find themselves stuck outside of Belleview, which Aldark is using as his hideout. The two of them travel through the darkness, disabling some of Aldark's outposts, shrinking his bubble of influence and allowing them to move in on Mike's house. They eventually arrive and find Mike pounding on Heather's door, and the Hero uses the Book of Imagination to enter his mind and clear the Shadow inside him. Once he is saved, the group watches as Belleview returns to normal, drawing Aldark's attention. Enraged, he attacks the two Heroes, but they defeat him. Weakened once more, the heroes use the Book of Imagination to return to the Raposa realm, but Aldark jumps in with them, dragging Mike and Heather back with him. Back in Rapoville, Mike and Heather, now looking like her Raposa form, reunite with their friends. However, Aldark attacks the group, grabbing the Darkstone and powering it back up. However, instead of unleashing its power, he absorbs it, transforming into the fearsome Darkstone Aldark. He casts a cloud of darkness over the entire realms and vanishes into the sky.
Wilfre explains that the only way to truly seal Aldark is to use the use the five books to seal him away, but they need four Creation Heroes and a descendant of the first Raposa for it to work. The group gives Luna the Book of Sight and the Hero the Book of Death, sending them back to Maradyn and Turtle Rock respectively. Mari then asks the Creator to give them the Hero from Rapoville's Creation Hall, and the new Hero is created. The group asks Iora where the Willowbrook Hero was, and she explains that they were shattered into the Forgotten by a tribe of ancient Raposa. The Rapoville Hero, Iora, Abyss, and Gaia all return to Willowbrook to search for more Forgottens, and they restore the Willowbrook Hero, giving them the Book of Void and leaving them in their Creation Hall. The Rapoville Hero returns to Rapoville and fights through Aldark's last line of defenses, having to travel underneath Creation Hall to avoid him. The Raposa give the Rapoville Hero the Book of Life, and Wilfre explains that they need to find the descendant soon.
Wilfre begins to explain more about them, saying that they could harness any of the four elements and not be corrupted, they could shapeshift when they were an adult, and could exist in both realms simultaneously. Suddenly, the pieces click in everyone's heads, and they all turn to face Heather. She nods and picks up the Book of Imagination, climbing to the top of Town Hall and repeating an incantation after Wilfre. This splits Aldark into five parts, and trapping them in the books. Each of the four Heroes destroy their fragment of Aldark, destroying their mannequin and their book in the process. Eventually, only Heather remains with Aldark's final fragment. She uses the Book of Imagination to travel inside Aldark's mind, battling against the strongest form of him - his own image. Eventually, Heather manages to find the Darkstone - her pendant - and she takes control of it, using its power to destroy what remains of Aldark. When she returns, the group celebrates her success and mourns the loss of the four heroes. Jowee and Mike ask Heather what she plans on doing now, and she promises to protect both realms from any future threats.
