Why is it that I must be punished to roam the world in my afterlife, despite the fact that I never spoke with the Creator?

–Ephren

Ephren is a Raposa created by GuyThatExists that appears in the short story The 35 as a character in 1 out of 105 segments.

During their life, they helped lead a group of Raposa in Liškaměsto away from a tyrannical ruler, therefore making himself a leader. Because of this, in death, he would be cursed to wander the Raposa world as a guiding spirit. After meeting Eugene Shinar, they wandered with him, and eventually was invited to The Wasteland by Sigil, joining the Shadowdwellers.

Before The 35[edit]

Ephren was a villager in Liškaměsto before Eugene Shinar's colonization, and he helped lead a group of Raposa away from a tyrannical ruler, never speaking to the Creator. Thanks to a curse of the Creator, forcing all those who led the area known as Rapoville, including Liškaměsto, to live their afterlives as a guide to others, at Ephren's death, he began wandering the world as a ghost, eventually meeting Eugene Shinar, becoming good friends.

2020[edit]

In 2020, Eugene is approached by Sigil, asking him to be the keynote speaker at an annual gala for the Shadowdwellers. After hearing what the group was about, he accepted and prepared a speech, inviting Ephren, Zerua, and Nathan with him. When Ephren is invited to the stage, he complains about the curse and is happy to be in better company.

Quote Icon.png Quotes[edit]

I came today to say that I merely led our people out from a tyrannical ruler of my time. Why is it that I must be punished to roam the world in my afterlife, despite the fact that I never spoke with the Creator? Eugene mentioned the Creator's curse and how it has affected us, and as Zerua stated, I am happy to finally be in the company of new ghosts. Thank you.
