Miah? Yeah, of course I know who I am! There’s no reason to attack me for it!

–Jeremiah Slaczka

Jeremiah Slaczka, also known as Miah, is a Developer Avatar created by GuyThatExists based on the Director and Designer of the same name. He appears in the short story Blank Slates 2 as a major character. He also appears in the Developer's Grove in Drawn to Life, and appears in Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter as Mr. Row. After the development of his two games completed, he adopted the disguise of Mr. Row and lived in Belleview with Mike. During this time, he was kidnapped and impersonated by GenericChallenge, and was eventually found by David Franco and Alana. When he returned to the Developer's Grove, Joseph Tringali erased his memories of Miah, leaving only Mr. Row behind.

Jeremiah Slaczka is a human that resembles Mike, sharing his clothing and hair style. However, his hair is brown and he has a goatee. In the Developer's Grove, he resembles a shark with a red headband.

Book Icon.png Story[edit]

Jeremiah Slaczka worked on both Drawn to Life and Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter from inside the Developer's Grove, and when those two games were completed, he decided to act as a spy in Belleview, taking on the role of Mr. Row. He incorporated himself into Mike's family, and established Uncle Owen as his brother. When the carnival decided to come to Belleview, Mr. Row was kidnapped by GenericChallenge, who began to impersonate him, driving his family to the carnival and delivering the Raposa dolls to the Carnival Attendant.

After a few hours being trapped in his basement, Miah is eventually rescued by Shadow Mari, Daniel James, and Lyrica, but he refuses to leave with them, as he doesn't recognize them. Shadow Mari erases their disguises, revealing David Franco and Alana, so Miah listens to their problems. He agrees to come back to the Grove, and the group leaves.

In the Grove, he creates the Stylus and object with the powers of the Droogle Leader's Sword, and he gives it to Joseph Tringali. In return, Joe offers to erase Miah's memories to being a dev so he could live his final moments in peace. Miah reluctantly agrees, and his memories of Miah are erased, leaving only Mr. Row. After being sent to the carnival, Mr. Row drove his family home after it began to rain. However, due to his's reckless driving, he is unable to stop when he sees Deputy Snyder's headlights, so he swerves into a ditch. This kills him and his wife, injures Heather, and puts Mike into a coma. His funeral is held after Mike wakes up from his coma, but due to Aldark's influence, his funeral is ruined by fighting.

Quote Icon.png Quotes[edit]

Did you find the secret flower in Wilfre's lair to save the Mayor? ...Or is there really one?

–Jeremiah Slaczka

Kidnapping me and then asking for my help? Yeah right. Get lost you three.

–Jeremiah Slaczka

Was that supposed to stop me?

–Jeremiah Slaczka

I have no idea who you guys are! Some DJ and a runaway bride? Not to mention the guy who kidnapped me and a Shadow version of Mari.

–Jeremiah Slaczka

Franco?! That was you this whole time? I’m sorry man!

–Jeremiah Slaczka

Why would you guys need to get to the void? Oh, these two, right? Gotta break them back down into code?

–Jeremiah Slaczka

Villages? Since when does the void have villages?

–Jeremiah Slaczka

Alright. I understand. Take me to the Grove and I’ll see what I can do.

–Jeremiah Slaczka

I figured something like this would happen, so I made a failsafe just in case the Droogles ever turned against us.

–Jeremiah Slaczka

That well can lead to either Rapoville or Belleview. The sword takes you to the void. Now, if you write the name of any location of somebody, using this stylus of course, they will be sent to the spawn point in that location. It should even work for the void villages.

–Jeremiah Slaczka

Good to see you too! Love what you’ve done with the place.

–Jeremiah Slaczka

It all depends. After I jumped through the well, Owen sent Snyder to the carnival to let Mike’s family know that I’m dead right now, so it’s not like I can avoid it.

–Jeremiah Slaczka

I wish I could think that far ahead! Truth is, I just saw me jump in and out of the well on that console when we walked through the game before launch. To be honest though, on a personal level, I’ve run through this scenario a thousand times. Once when we drafted, once when we wrote the game design document, once when we got the art, but it’s still scary to know that I have to swerve off that road.

–Jeremiah Slaczka

We would walk them through the plot of the game, their role in it, and then we would… wipe their memories of the void. With that gun exactly. Joe, I can’t. I know I’m not a dev anymore, but I can’t just give up all these memories.

–Jeremiah Slaczka

Thank you, Joe, really. And hey, if you ever need to see me again, I’m sure you can find a flower somewhere to save me.

Trivia[edit]

  • Although not stated in Blank Slates 2, Miah is not the real world Jeremiah Slaczka. Rather, he is an avatar that interprets the real world Miah's decisions and code, and replicates them in the world of Drawn to Life.
