I started sneaking all sorts of things out of The Void, and when Shadow Mari brought even more stuff
back to The Void, it just gave me even more to take.

–GenericChallenge

GenericChallenge, often just called Generic or GC, is a Raposa created by GuyThatExists that appears in the short stories Blank Slates 2 and Blank Slates 3 as a secondary antagonist and minor character respectively, and in the one-shot GenericChallenge as the main character. He also appears in Guy's Various DTL One-Shots, more specifically The Scribble on the Moon as a supporting character.

After being brought to life by Mayo, GenericChallenge successfully escaped The Void with Sugar and Stormy. However, he soon returned due to people thinking he was Farmer Brown, and he began stealing people and objects from The Void and incorporating them into canon. At one point in time, he also joined Crawler's LARPing Group as Pinkleg the Pirate, though he was removed from the group for causing excessive harm.

Later on, he kidnapped and impersonated Jeremiah Slaczka on the day of the crash in an attempt to die for him, but he is swayed away from this after being found out by Lyrica, Daniel James, and Shadow Mari. He would later be found by Wilfred and William and brought back into the Developer's Grove, where he helped fight against Goldie's Droogle army. During the fight, he was forced into canon by Eric Kozlowsky and appeared in Belleview.

TowerIcon.png Appearance[edit]

In his base form, GenericChallenge appears as Farmer Brown, albeit covered in a pink and black pattern and with white eyes. While disguised as someone else, he appears as that person with a few glitches, notably having pink and black eyes.

GenericChallenge[edit]

Shortly after being brought to life by Shadow Mari's attack on The Void, GenericChallenge would find himself in The Next Chapter Village, being lectured to by Mayo. During this lecture, he would meet Sugar and Stormy, who shared their disdain of the screener, and the three of them plotted to leave The Void. After watching Alana ascend, Stormy picked a mantra for Sugar and GenericChallenge to use, giving Sugar a line from Cookie's Female Assistant and giving GenericChallenge a line from Farmer Brown.

When the three of them appeared in the Developer's Grove, they were found by the Droogles in the middle of their war on the Developers. The three of them ran into the woods to avoid the Droogles and camped out, exchanging stories and plotting to enter the Wishing Well. Eventually, after seeing Jinxy send himself back to The Void, the three of them jump into the well and find themselves in Rapoville, coming face to face with Cookie. Cookie believes that Farmer Brown is cheating on his wife with Cookie's Assistant, seeing The Void residents as the characters they stole their mantras from. Attempting to expose them, Cookie grabs Sugar's arm and drags her, and Stormy, away to the kitchen. GenericChallenge is able to escape back into the Developer's Grove, where he encounters Shadow Mari and Willham. However, he is able to return to The Void with the Droogle Leader's Sword before they can apprehend him.

After this, he goes to where the Wii Village will be and witnesses Shadow Mari bring The Void back to life after Willham's attacks. Finding himself in Outer Orbit and face to face with Hybrid, the two of them join forces, with GenericChallenge promising the power of a god if Hybrid can help him get Sugar back from canon.

Between GenericChallenge and Blank Slates 2[edit]

Eventually, GenericChallenge began to smuggle objects and people out of The Void and into canon, notably taking the Angry Baki Mask and being the in-universe explanation for Project Overhaul. He also briefly joined Crawler's LARPing Group, where he would play as a pirate named Pinkleg, often LARPing underneath The Next Chapter Village and captaining the Dark Harbinger. During this time, he killed Steele and recruited Cobalt for Project Overhaul. Around this time, he was removed from the LARPing Group for being too violent.

Blank Slates 2[edit]

After deciding to take over the role of Mr. Row, GenericChallenge misfired to Rapoville and possessed Farmer Brown in 2015. After using the Book of Imagination to travel to Belleview, GenericChallenge kidnapped Jeremiah Slaczka and took over the role of Mr. Row, driving his family to the carnival in town. Once they arrived, GenericChallenge gave a box of Raposa dolls to a Carnival Attendant.

Suddenly, GenericChallenge hears Lyrica and Daniel James call out to and approach him. They refer to him as Miah, so GenericChallenge flubs his way through their conversation, and ignores the memory-restoring effects of Shadow, which inadvertently reveals himself to the two of them. Daniel James pulls him aside to interrogate him, but he refuses to divulge any information.

After Lyrica buys a game for Mike and Heather, winning them their dolls, Daniel James pulls GenericChallenge back to the car and into the Developer's Grove. Shedding his disguise, GenericChallenge is berated by Willham for his previous actions, and he eventually folds, revealing his plan to take Miah's place and die in the crash for him. Joe applauds him for his efforts, but reveals that Miah was responsible for the crash, making GenericChallenge's attempts futile. Learning this, and learning of Mayo's death, GenericChallenge feels remorseful and tells the group that Miah was trapped in his basement.

GenericChallenge leads the group back into Belleview, guiding them into the basement and throwing off Uncle Owen. Miah refuses to help them, as he doesn't recognize any of them, but when Shadow Mari removes their disguises, he apologizes and helps them get back into The Void. When they return to the Developer's Grove, he creates the Stylus, and GenericChallenge asks that he be sent back to Jangala, which Joe allows.

Between Blank Slates 2 and Blank Slates 3[edit]

During this time, he also adopted the guise of Galileo, attempting to trap Farmer Brown on the Moon with Jimmy the TreeScribble. However, this plan fails. Also during this time, GenericChallenge adopts the persona of Sushi. As Sushi, he is chosen to be Click's first Secretary of Foreign Affairs, though he eventually abandons his position.

Blank Slates 3[edit]

Some time later, Wilfred and William, both hiding from Tombstone in the Developer's Grove, entered the Wishing Well to try and find GenericChallenge, which they did. They brought him back into the Grove, where the three of them were quickly pulled into the Control Booth. After admitting that he had forgotten about his check ins, blaming a love life, he is kicked out of the booth and forced to come face to face with everyone he had promised riches, power, and fame. However, before a fight could break out, Eric Kozlowsky stated that anyone who started a fight would be deleted.

Suddenly, Repair Guy, who was one of the Raposa threatening to fight GenericChallenge, notices a Tombstone-possessed Droogle behind GenericChallenge and begins explaining the current events in The Void - Tombstone's creation, the destruction of the Drawn to Life and Shadow Villages, and the current refugee situation in the Grove. Around this time, Goldie launched her attack on the Developer's Grove, forcing all of the refugees to either fight or hide, including GenericChallenge, who began fighting with Repair Guy.

During the fight, Hybrid began targeting both the Droogles and GenericChallenge with his attacks, forcing the latter to focus on fighting and dodging at the same time. This culminated as Koz tried to send GenericChallenge to "safety" by using the Stylus, and Hybrid sent a barrage of stones towards GenericChallenge, nearly killing both GC and Koz. Hybrid explained that he wouldn't let GenericChallenge be a part of canon anymore, as the only "safe" spot for any of The Void's refugees would be canon. In a fit of desperation due to Goldie's army closing in, Koz sent GenericChallenge into canon anyways.

Suddenly in Belleview as Mr. Row once more, GenericChallenge attempted to re-enter the Grove, only to find that the well was shut off. He quickly ran to Franco Key's Record Shop and returned to his normal appearance, meeting up with Franco Key, Nolan, and soon Koz. Franco asked him to change his appearance, so he then decided to transform into a black haired human with a pink-and-black shirt. Before the four of them could discuss anything more about the Grove or Joe, Mike and his son Nolan suddenly entered the shop looking for Aly. GenericChallenge and Nolan were then tasked with taking care of Nolan Row while Mike spoke with Franco and Koz.

Quote Icon.png Quotes[edit]

This is bullshit. Doesn’t really count as freedom if we’re confined to one page in a book.

–GenericChallenge

I don’t know, I have some ideas to get away from here. I'm GenericChallenge.

–GenericChallenge

Should we go ask her how she did that?

–GenericChallenge

That’s one of Farmer Brown’s lines. Damn it. Fine. Dem’s a fine Banya crop dis season… Dem’s a fine Banya crop dis season…

–GenericChallenge

I say we wait. We can give it some time out here and then go back when the battle’s over.

–GenericChallenge

So, Sugar. What’s the deal with you and Stormy?

–GenericChallenge

I’m sorry, there seems to be some sort of confusion. I don’t know who Brownie is.

–GenericChallenge

Hey! You! How would you like to be a real god?! In the real games?! I can promise you infinite knowledge and infinite power! All you have to do is help me save someone from Rapoville!

–GenericChallenge

I’m sorry, who are you two?

–Mr. Row

I’m sorry you two but I really don’t know what you’re talking about. The Void? A grove? This is all really confusing.

–Mr. Row

I’m sorry, I still don’t know what you two are talking about.

–Mr. Row

Hey Shaddy! How ‘ya hangin’?

–GenericChallenge

Alright fine! I’ll talk! You guys seem to know everything about me already.

–GenericChallenge

Ever since you brought us back to life, Mayo ticked me off when she forced us all to stay in The Next Chapter Village, so I decided to get her back.

–GenericChallenge

I just thought you won and that was a compromise… We gotta go bring all that stuff back!

–GenericChallenge

Alright, fine. I hid Miah so I could deliver those dolls to the carnival as him. I figured it would be better for me to die in that crash than him.

–GenericChallenge

Well, yeah. He’s the creator of most of this, so he should be able to stick around and make decisions about it all, yeah?

–GenericChallenge

I’ll tell you one two conditions. Hey! Hey! I swear it’s nothing drastic!

–GenericChallenge

First, I want to be able to roam the realms in peace with access to the well whenever I want. I won’t be taking anything else, but I have a lot of personas I’ve created to move those people and objects around.

–GenericChallenge

Second, I want to be inserted into canon somehow. Somewhere I can go after tying up all the loose ends I created.

–GenericChallenge

Honestly, that’s fine with me. I heard what you guys said, and if you don’t even know what’s going on out there, then I’m happy to just do what I’ve been doing in places I know are safe.

–GenericChallenge

In his basement, where I found the box of dolls.

–GenericChallenge

Uh, just some dolls to take back to the station. For the kids, y’know?

–Mr. Row

There you go. Now if it’s alright with you, I think I’ll be heading off on my own now.

–GenericChallenge

Could you send me to Jangala? I need to check in on something I dropped off a while ago.

–GenericChallenge

I think I understand. What about Jowee and... the other Raposa here?

–GenericChallenge/Stories

Good to know.

–GenericChallenge/Stories

They’re my friends. In fact, I was just about to come back to see them.

–GenericChallenge

Truth be told, I forgot.

–GenericChallenge

Well, I may have been distracted with a bit of a love life.

–GenericChallenge

Guys, come on. This is all a misunderstanding!

–GenericChallenge

I didn’t know she was your daughter.

–GenericChallenge

I was working on that! I swear!

–GenericChallenge

Attack? I’m not summoning anything.

–GenericChallenge

Watch it asshole!

–GenericChallenge

We don’t have time for this! It’s the only place we can go, just get me out of here!

–GenericChallenge

The well broke. I can’t get back to the Grove.

–GenericChallenge

Mind if I take a page out of your playbook?

–GenericChallenge

So kid, what’s your name?

–GenericChallenge

Trivia[edit]

  • GenericChallenge is the second of GuyThatExists' OCs to be introduced into his stories after being created.
    • The other character in this category is Stampy.
  • In early drafts of Blank Slates 3, GenericChallenge was going to be seen before Wilfred and William found him. In this idea, he would have disguised himself as a bioluminescent Raposa named Sushi, who would have been a supposed prophet of the Creator.
    • In these drafts, GenericChallenge would have escaped into The Void instead of staying in the Developer's Grove, and he would've been sent into Rapoville instead of Belleview.
    • Sushi eventually appeared in The 35, acting as a disguise for GenericChallenge when he became Click's Secretary of Foreign Affairs.
  • Before writing Blank Slates 3, GenericChallenge was meant to have a hideout somewhere in The Void, though this never came to fruition.
