You never destroyed the Shadow Stone! You idiot, you’ve doomed your realm!

Willham

Shadow Stones are items adapted by GuyThatExists that appear in the short stories Salem Rose Pt. 1, Blank Slates 2, and Blank Slates 3. They are stones that grant their users the power of Shadow. Salem Rose used a Shadow Stone to gain Shadow powers and attack Wilfre, and Gingerfre has used a Shadow Stone to unlock his Shadow form until learning to create it without one. All currently known Shadow Stones were absorbed by Tombstone and subsequently destroyed with its death.

Shadow Stones are purple, jagged stones that have multiple purple crystals poking out of them. The crystals are semi-transparent, and when broken, the stones loose some saturation.

Salem Rose Pt. 1[edit]

Shadow Stones are first mentioned by Willham after Miles visits The Void and reveals that he is a time traveler. Willham states that the stone would let him travel back to his own realm since Miles doesn't have a mantra. Flash points Miles towards the stones in the Drawn to Life Village and she leaves Miles alone. He makes his way to the village and finds Tomohawk holding a Shadow Stone and relaxing after a LARPing session with Crawler. Miles asks for the stone and Tomohawk obliges, explaining the Droogle race in the process. As Miles holds the stone, it corrupts him and he finally adopts the Salem Rose persona. Using his newfound Shadow powers, he kills Tomohawk and creates a portal back into Rapoville.

Salem Rose continues to use his newfound Shadow powers to traverse throughout the Raposa realm. Eventually, he teleports to Rapoville and meets Mari alone in Village Hall. He fakes an apology to her for his actions during the Creator's Alliance meeting. Wilfre walks into Village Hall and senses the Shadow in Salem Rose, so he forces Mari out of the building. Salem Rose reveals his abilities to Wilfre by sending veins of Shadow throughout Village Hall's infrastructure, threatening to collapse the building on top of him. Wilfre uses the Ruby Earring to activate his Color powers, and the two presumably fight in Village Hall.

Salem Rose returns to The Void after collecting the Ruby Earring, searching for the Color Vat. He uses the Shadow Stone to kill Willham and threaten Jinxy's life. After being attacked by Jinxy, Fox, Crawler, Rocket Vulture, Willham, and Shadow Mari, he uses the stone to teleport to the Color Vat and falls in, gaining the power of Color. He erupts from the vat and creates a portal behind him, allowing Willham to notice that Salem Rose never destroyed the Shadow Stone. He tries to erase Salem Rose and his Shadow Stone from existence, but his attack misses.

Later on, Salem Rose is seen inside Deadwood as Milfre returns from 2012. Now in possession of the Ruby Earring and a Shadow Stone, he uses both Color and Shadow to attack her. He also uses the Shadow to deflect Tridents, wield the Slasher, and destroy the Artifacts of Power. He uses Shadow to destroy the Crystal Mask, and the resulting explosion ends up destroying his Shadow Stone.

Blank Slates 2[edit]

Later on, after escaping from conflict with the Tree King, Gingerfre takes a Shadow Stone from an alley in the Drawn to Life Village, but he is knocked out before he can utilize it. When he wakes up, he tricks Hoopz and Fox into letting him pick the stone back up, and he uses said stone to control his Shadow and lead the Shadow and Ink creatures in The Void.

Blank Slates 3[edit]

Two years later, Gingerfre continues to use his Shadow Stone until it is taken from him by Tombstone, who also absorbs the remaining Shadow Stones in the Drawn to Life Village. When Tombstone is defeated by the Master of the Abyss, all of the Shadow Stones currently known are destroyed.

Trivia[edit]

  • Residents of The Void seem to be effected differently by Shadow Stones than residents of the Human or Raposa realm.
    • This may be because Shadow is not a purely antagonistic force in The Void like it is in the realms.
