Fext is a Ghost created by GuyThatExists that appears in the short stories The Lavasteam Chronicles Part Two as a minor character and The Lavasteam Chronicles Part Three as a main character. They also appear in The 35 as a character in 1 out of 105 segments. They also appear in the one-shot Haunted Rivers as a main character.

After Fext died, they found themself on Ex-Isle's shore. After many centuries, they become friends with Ocean while she stays on the island, and they protect her from Salem during his attack. However, they are indirectly responsible for Salem finding Robigo. When Ocean leaves, Fext goes on to free and become a host for Allight. After some time and introspecting, Fext is ejected from Allight and goes on to restore most of her thralls. They would later sacrifice themself to kill Allight for good.

Appearance

Although their appearance while alive is unknown, as a ghost, Fext is a tall, grey, wispy figure that resembles a Raposa.

Story

Before Ocean

Fext was born a Raposa in a village called Liškaměsto many centuries ago. Somehow, they died, but lived on as a ghost on the shores of Ex-Isle before it was a penal colony. Eventually, their native tongue became unknown, and after more centuries passed made friends with the Raposa on the island. After Ex-Isle became what it is today, Fext's friends left, and the exiles and Royal Guards did not believe that Fext existed.

The Lavasteam Chronicles Part Two

For some time, Fext became friends with some of the exiles sentenced to the island. Eventually, they became friends with Ocean, who considered them her best friend on the island behind her mother. They were included in the picture Ocean drew, although at the time, Ocean did not know Fext's name.

Some time later, Fext showed themself to Robigo, who was about to be kidnapped by Salem. They tried to warn her, but due to linguistic differences, Robigo couldn't understand them. Ocean walked into the room with her plush Star Baki, and they tried to warn her as well. When Salem walked into the room, Fext dashed towards the Raposa in an attempt to hide them, but Robigo dove out of the way. When they picked up Ocean, she dropped her plush, but Fext covered it up as well. The two of them watched as Salem kidnapped Robigo and revealed himself as Wilfre. Fext releases Ocean and listens as Ocean, along with Kacha, Byetts, Oma, Colepere, and Elodie, discuss how to proceed.

After Wilfre drains the color from the island and the Creator restores it, Fext searches for Ocean, and watches as Baki Beard's Revenge docks with Ocean on it. However, when they try to get her attention, they realize that she can't see them.

Haunted Rivers

After Mike, Heather, and the Shadow are expelled from the Raposa realm, Fext hears a voice call out to them from deep in the island. Fext flies towards the voice until they come across the Mannequite inside the island. The crystal calls out to Fext to touch the stone, so they comply. The light from the crystal begins to flow onto Fext, giving them a new body.

With the new body, Fext runs up the stairs to the mess hall, seeing Ocean leave the island and return to the ship. Fext calls out to her, but she still can't hear them. They ask the voice why she can't hear him, and the voice responds that they don't have enough influence to leave the island yet. Fext asks how to gain more influence, so the voice takes over the body to announce their return to the Raposa in the mess hall. Brûlées asks who the voice is, and the voice responds by calling themself Allight.

The Lavasteam Chronicles Part Three

A year later, Fext converses with Allight, asking if the two of them would ever get enough influence to leave the island. Allight suggests that Fext try to reach out to those they had physical contact with - Ocean and Robigo. Fext is hesitant, but complies. They are unable to reach out to Robigo, due to her being unconscious in the Giant Robosa at the time, and when Fext reaches out to Ocean, she passes out. Coming back to, Fext and Allight get word from Brûlées that a passenger ship was spotted at the docks, so Allight goes down to meet it.

At the docks, Allight enthralls Alphonse, much to Fext's dismay. As an apology, Allight allows Fext to pick who would be the thralls to help expand their reach. Fext decides on Harsonist and Doria, and Flame joins the group of his own will. The four Raposa then travel to Watersong, landing by the beach, and Allight begins to enthrall the rest of Watersong's population. Just then, a ship carrying Kacha, Elodie, Colepere, and a sleeping Byetts docks, so Allight enthralls them as well.

Later on, Allight, Harsonist, Doria, and Flame sail to the rooftops district, where they enthrall the remaining Watersong population, including Mayor Rose and Meeny. The group takes a break, but Fext realizes that many of Allight's thralls are forgetting parts of themselves, so they beg Allight to let some of them go. However, Allight refuses, and suddenly, she senses a new Hero, calling her thralls to arms at the rooftops port.

At the port, Allight watches as the Bane of Kings and Baki Beard's Revenge close in. Allight's armada boards their ships, and slowly begins to enthrall the passengers. Allight comes face to face with the Hero, and Fext breaks forward to beg the Hero to kill them to stop Allight's plans. However, the Hero does not, and Allight enthralls everyone on the ships. Fext gets very upset that Ocean was enthralled, and when Allight notices Meeny pretending to still be enthralled, she shed Fext and takes Meeny as her next host. Fext begs Allight to stop, but cannot, and flies back to Ex-Isle.

On the island, Fext encounters the Hero once more when Turtle Rock docks on the island, and they help the group aboard the ship evade Allight. However, now armed with the Ruby Earring, Allight in Meeny's body sends all the Ex-Isle thralls to fight Mari, Jowee, Eeny, and the Hero. During the fight, the Mannequite shards froze all the thralls in place, and the group tries to escape to Turtle Rock.

However, inside Creation Hall, Allight has enthralled Stumps and kidnapped Banny, using the two of them as leverage for Heather's Pendant. During the negotiations, Meeny is mortally wounded, and Fext recommends using the shards to find a medical expert, leading to the revival of Peppy Lot. Peppy heals both Meeny and Banny, and after a few more thralls are revived, everyone teleports off the island, leaving Fext, Peppy, and some frozen thralls behind.

Fext and Peppy spend some time discussing Fext's past, and with some urging from Peppy, Fext reaches out to Ocean to reach out to Harsonist, freeing both of them from Allight's control. Peppy thanks Fext, and the two of them restore the rest of the Ex-Isle thralls. Fext brings back Turtle Rock, which had sunk from a fire that Allight started, and Peppy, Fext, Alphonse, and the Royal Guards set sail to Lavasteam to join the fight against Allight.

When they get close to Lavasteam, the group sees Allight charging up a massive attack, and Fext realizes that to stop her, they must do it from the inside. After saying their goodbyes to Ocean, Fext collides with Allight, who instinctively becomes corporeal again. Allight begins to panic as her attack dwindles in size, and Fext reveals a color shard that they plunge into their chest, killing both Fext and Allight once and for all.

I made many friends in my death, but when Lavasteam and Watersong fought over the island, many of my friends ran away. When the exiles and guards arrived, no one believed that I existed until your friend Ocean.” –Fext “You all knew about me?” –Fext “Thank you for telling me this.” –Fext “That is unfortunatly correct. She tricked me into releasing her.” –Fext “Oh, oh dear. I am afraid I have some bad news. Although this news gives me an idea. Please give me a moment.” –Fext “If you can hear my voice, I want you to tell me your name.” –Fext Through Ocean “I need you to remember your home. Your friends. Peppy Lot. Being arrested for arson. If it wasn’t for you, Ocean and Harsonist would still be enthralled, and we would be stuck on that island.” –Fext “Yes, it is. I am afraid this might be the last time we see each other, so I wanted to say goodbye.” –Fext “I do not think Allight can be stopped like this. All this fighting is only hurting the people she possessed, not her. I am afraid there’s only one thing to do now.” –Fext “I am sorry, Ocean. Thank you for everything you have done for me. I am truly honored to be able to call myself your friend.” –Fext “Thank you for the invitation.” –Fext “I hope you can hear me you bastard. You may have given me a second life, but you just as quickly ripped it away from me.” –Fext “I’m putting all of this to an end, for good.” –Fext “Goodbye everyone. It has been a pleasure.” –Fext
