–Joseph Tringali
Joseph Tringali, also known as Joe, is a character based on the Lead Designer and Executive Producer of the same name. He appears in the short story Blank Slates as one of the secondary protagonists and the manager of the Developer's Grove, a role he carries with him through his subsequent appearances.
Appearance
Joe is a human with brown hair that resides in a small, green bush.
Story
Blank Slates
Joe is first heard by the Four Guardians, asking them to send one cut character into the Developer's Grove.
Joe is first seen when Mildew gets sent into the Grove. Joe takes the role of a guide through the Grove, teaching Mildew about what to expect in the games. Later on, he, along with Mildew and David Franco, get overthrown by the Droogle Leader and the rest of the Droogles. The three of them are stabbed and sent into The Void.
In the void, Joe, Franco, and Mildew wake up to see the Four Guardians and explain their situation. Joe asks about the Shadow Hole and Shadow Mari. Before he can get a complete answer, Drakon and Dinofrog attack the group. Drakon captures Joe, Franco, and Mildew and takes them to the Shadow Hole.
At the Hole, Drakon releases the three behind Shadow Mari, and holds them hostage. Eventually, Mayo tells Shadow Mari to shoot a beam of Shadow at Willham, prompting Joe, among others, to ask questions. Mayo breaks down shortly thereafter, and in the aftermath of her breakdown, Joe and Mildew ascend back into the Grove.
Back in the Grove, they are met by Franco, who tells Joe about Hose's request to keep the void as it is. While he considers the request, Willham, Shadow Mari, and the Droogle Leader all appear in the Grove, and Willham hands the Leader off to Joe. Before they leave, Joe grants Hose's wish, and Shadow Mari brings life to the void. Meanwhile, Joe puts the Droogle Leader in charge of progress checks in Drawn to Life: Two Realms as a punishment.
Self-Awareness
Joe is seen again when Aly sneaks into the Dev Grove, and he tries to help recover her memories. When he and the Droogle Leader can't help her, they send her back to the void using the Droogle Leader's Sword.
Salem Rose Pt. 1
Joe is next seen arguing with the Droogle Leader about a hypothetical Two Realms Village, with Joe holding firm in his beliefs that they need to begin work on the village so that when Drawn to Life: Two Realms released, its cut and unused residents would have a place to stay. Miles snuck around him undetected, stabbing himself with the Droogle Leader's Sword. When the sword falls to the ground, both Joe and the Droogle Leader turn around to look at it. Joe jokingly asks if they gave the Droogles psychic powers, and the Droogle Leader denies that he moved the sword.
When Salem Rose, a corrupted version of Miles, appears in the Dev Grove, Joe is absent. Joe is also absent when he leaves the Dev Grove. It is currently unknown where he is during this time.
Salem Rose Pt. 2
Joe is first seen by Milfre when she arrives in the Dev Grove, asking him about the void. He waves her off, stating that unless she plans to kill Salem Rose, she needs to leave. When Milfre admits that she plans on fighting him, he calls Willham and Shadow Mari up to the Grove. When Milfre returns with Kamalah and Jowee, Joe sets the well for 1982, and watches as they leave.
He is later seen after Salem Rose is killed, when Willham and Shadow Mari bring the Raposa back to the Grove to recover. Joe sets the well for 2013 and says goodbye to Stampy, next setting the well for 2042. He says goodbye to the rest of the Raposa, leaving him and Willham alone in the Grove. When Willham asks to return to the void, Joe tells him that the Droogle Leader's Sword is missing.
Blank Slates 2
After being joined by Shadow Mari, the three of them begin to search the Grove for the Droogle Leader, but cannot find him. Joe realizes that if they can't find the Droogle Leader, they need to instead find Miah. He calls Aly and Franco Key to the Grove so they can find Miah in Belleview, revealing that he took the role of Mike's father, Mr. Row. He sends them and Shadow Mari off to find him, while he and Willham stay behind to search for the Droogle Leader.
When the group returns, they bring GenericChallenge with them. Joe questions GenericChallenge about Miah's whereabouts, and he agrees to tell them as long as he can continue to roam free in canon. Joe agrees to his terms and GenericChallenge reveals that Miah is trapped in his basement. Joe sends the group back to get him, and they return Miah to the grove. Miah gives the group a new tool to send people to the void, and everyone but him and Joe return to their homes.
Now alone with Miah, Joe asks if he can go through with causing the crash that kickstarts the Drawn to Life series. Miah reveals that he's hesitant, so Joe decides to erase his memory of being a dev so that he could live out his final moments in peace. Miah thanks Joe and his memory is erased, so Joe sends him to the carnival with the rest of his family. Joe then gets back to searching for the Droogle Leader.
