The Four Guardians are a group that appear in the short story Blank Slates. They act as the decision makers in The Void, and worked against Shadow Mari after her attack.
Story
The Four Guardians were commissioned by Joe to make decisions in The Void alongside the screeners Willham and Mayo. They were also tasked with lowering beings into the Void after they were cut or deemed unused. After the development cycle of each game, they would be deleted until the next game started development.
During the development cycle for Drawn to Life: Two Realms, Joe called the Gurdians to the Discussion Grounds to pick a character to revive for the upcoming game. When Shadow Mari is passed over by the group, she attacks the Void, killing Willham and covering Ore in Shadow. The rest of the Guardians revive him in Lavasteam's color vat, and the make their way back to the discussion grounds. When they get there, they find Mildew, Joe, and Franco laying on the ground dazed. They help them up and explain the situation before being ambushed by Drakon and Dinofrog.
Dinofrog attacks the Guardians, destroying the discussion grounds during the battle, and the Guardians get help from Alana, Willham, and the Droogle Killer during the fight. Weary of Mayo due to new information they got from the devs, the Guardians ride to the Shadow Hole with the screeners. When they arrive at the hole, they fight off hordes of Shadow and Ink monsters until Shadow Mari calls them off. When Mayo orders Shadow Mari to kill Willham, the Guardians are among the beings who begin to question her allegiance.
After Mayo's breakdown, Paint and Ore protect her body while Flash and Hose ask Franco to leave the Hose Void populated so that they wouldn't be bored or alone outside of development cycles. Franco ascends to the Developer's Grove as Flash and Hose join Paint and Ore. When Joe makes his decrees to leave the Void populated and to delete Mayo, the Guardians are some of the beings in the group that wishes Aly luck. When Fiora names Sandal, Ore is the first in the group to laugh in agreement at the name.
Members
Flash
Main article: Flash
Flash is the leader of the Four Guardians, although she doesn't seem to have any unique responsibilities. She was the first to suggest that the screeners and Guardians cull the shortlist of characters, and gave the second vote for Mildew. She was the one who convinced Willham to help fight Dinofrog and also one of the prominent voices to question Mayo before her breakdown.
Paint
Main article: Paint
Paint is a member of the Four Guardians. He was the first to suggest that they give the cut and unused beings a second chance at life, and gave the first vote for Mildew. He was one of the two Guardians to protect Mayo before her breakdown.
Hose
Main article: Hose
Hose is a member of the Four Guardians. He backed up Flash's decision to cull the shortlist and gave the third vote for Mildew. He also convinced Alana to help find the Droogle Killer to defeat Dinofrog, and asked Franco to let the Void remain populated.
Ore
Main article: Ore
Ore is a member of the Four Guardians. He is typically silent unless feeling strong emotions, shown when he chastised Shadow Mari immediately before her attack. He was also the first to laugh at Sandal's name.
