Flick is a Shadow created by GuyThatExists that appears in the short story Blank Slates 3 as a cameo. She also appears in The 35 in 3 out of 105 segments. A friend of Nilamore and Hemithere, she is a founding resident of Yulshade and eventually becomes its secretary, secretly staying in contact with Aldark during his travels. Some time later, she would introduce The Void's Shadows to Aldark's history.

Appearance

Flick's appearance is currently unknown, though she likely has a similar appearance to other Shadow Walkers.

Story

The 35

2012

Flick is first seen after Hemithere convinces Aldark to create Yulshade. Flick, who had been living with Hemithere and Nilamore, decides to go to Aldark's new village, though she thinks little of him since he was defeated by the Hero.

2015

Years later, when Aldark and Hemithere return from a hunt, Aldark announces to Flick, Hemithere, and Nilamore that he would be leaving their village to travel the world searching for Shadows. Nilamore tries to protest his decision, but he leaves immediately, and Nilamore succeeds him as leader of the Shadows in Yulshade, with Flick agreeing to be her secretary.

2026

Over the next decade, Flick continues to manage Yulshade with Nilamore, and she keeps in contact with Aldark, who secretly visits her occasionally. When Nilamore follows a Hiker through Yulshade, Flick and Hemithere follow her, eventually watching her push him off the edge of the mountain. As Hemithere attacks the Hiker, Flick tries to get Nilamore out of the hunting grounds, but Nilamore and Hemithere decide to invade Belleview.

Flick quickly shuts that idea down, fearing that a Hero would destroy the Shadows, and she instead suggests that they go take over Clallam Bay. Nilamore and Hemithere are excited about that idea and leave to get ready. However, Aldark appears next to Flick and expresses his joy at seeing Hemithere in action. Flick tells him to hurry up, and that they needed him back, and Aldark promises. He tells her that he was headed to Africa in the morning, and Flick tells him again to speed it up as she walks away.

Blank Slates 3

In 2042, when Sandal, Abyss, Shadokomo, and other Shadows appear in Yulshade, Flick gathers them and tells them about Aldark's history in Belleview.

“That's a steep fall. I think they're dead.” –Flick “More of that Belleview therapy? I can't believe he's still doing that.” –Flick “You can't be this bold with your prey. Why were you stalking them all the way out here?” –Flick “Maybe we need to get you off the hunting grounds. You're good at the admin stuff, and we have hundreds of Shadows who are out there fighting to spread our influence. Why do it yourself?” –Flick “Since Aldark left?” –Flick “No, no, no! That would be a horrible idea. We can't risk the Hero showing up and following us back here! That'd be the end of everything. No more Yulshade, no more us.” –Flick “I know you're in charge here, but I am vehemently against this plan. Belleview needs to be off–limits, period.” –Flick “If we can't go to Belleview, how about we take over another town? I don't think we've taken Clallam Bay.” –Flick “Around 400.” –Flick “You really need to stop making these unannounced visits. I managed to keep them out of Belleview.” –Flick “Any heavy hitters?” –Flick “Well, I hope your travels are fruitful in the other half of the world. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a village to run.” –Flick “What I really need is for you to come back. Permanently.” –Flick “I know. Just don't spend ten years on a continent anymore.
