Would you rather go to an afterlife or an empty void when you die? Frankly, I don’t care if the Creator's real, I just need some hope.

–Meeny

Meeny is a character that doesn't appear in any games, but rather in the short story, The Lavasteam Chronicles Part One. He is one of Miney and Moe's exiled siblings, and he is the second youngest brother in the Hallor family.

The Lavasteam Chronicles Part 1

Meeny is first seen talking to his brothers, Miney and Eeny about Miney's new advisor, Salem. Eeny and Meeny are suspicious of Salem, angering Miney and ultimately having the two of them exiled. He sends Robosa to take them to the edge of town, and Moe spots them along the way. They get thrown off of the mainland and land in the ocean below, saving themselves on a rock. The two begin to sleep, when Eeny notices that the tide is coming in. The two brothers realize that unless a miracle happens, they won't survive the night and say their goodbyes. Suddenly, they notice a ship coming towards them, captained by Galileo.

Galileo saves the brothers and welcomes them onboard the Bane of Kings, telling them tales of the color draining in Rapoville and Wilfre kidnapping villagers. The three decide to go to Watersong and speak with Rose. When they arrive at the village, Galileo explores the village while Eeny and Meeny go to Rose's Mansion. Eeny and Meeny explain their situation to Rose and Butler, and Butler tells Eeny that Salem is one of Wilfre's alter egos.

As Meeny talks to Rose, Eeny and Galileo return to the mansion, and Miles asks Galileo about the Giant Scribble Monster which causes Galileo to enter a PTSD episode. Meeny tries to calm him down by grabbing his back, but this causes Galileo to get even more upset. Eeny pulls Galileo out of the mansion and Meeny asks Miles to talk about his adventure. Eventually, Butler calls Meeny and Rose to a balcony to watch Eeny and Galileo fight Leopold and Francois. Meeny joins the fight and calms Galileo down, allowing Eeny and Meeny to bring Galileo back to the Bane of Kings.

As Galileo prepares to leave, Eeny and Meeny decide to stay in Watersong and wish him luck finding his family. They watch him sail off and let Butler direct them to their room. As they take in their surroundings, Miles comes into their room and tells them that they're going on a tour. Miles directs Eeny and Meeny to Jivin' Rooftops, and the three of them travel through the level. Eventually, Meeny takes a break, allowing Eeny to inspect a Raposa Statue. Suddenly, it comes to life and drags Eeny through the level, forcing Miles and Meeny to run after them.

Eventually, Meeny and Miles catch up to Eeny and the Raposa Statues, so Meeny and Eeny team up to defeat them; Eeny steals one of the Raposa Statue's spears in the process. As they fight, Miles gets into the Altar and helps the brothers cross the gap. They three make their way through the level and return to the Mansion. Miles leaves the two alone in their room, and Eeny reveals that he wants to leave the village and go on adventures. Meeny gets mad, and the two begin to fight. Rose overhears and tries to help the two settle the argument, but fails. Eventually, she uses her power of song to put Eeny to sleep, and sits next to Meeny on the bed, telling him that there's a spare bed in her room, kissing him in the process.

The Desolate City

Meeny wakes Eeny up a few days after Rose put him to sleep, and tells him to go outside to the Watersong docks. Eeny runs out of the building and gawks at his ship, thanking Meeny and Rose for the gift. Meeny tells him to go ono a maiden voyage to Galileo's hometown, which Meeny incorrectly marked as Rapocity on the map.

Salem Rose Pt. 1

Eventually, Meeny marries Rose and becomes Miles' step-father, magically binding the two together. This act causes Rose's disease to spread to Meeny, kickstarting his death. When Rose dies, Butler steps down from the role of advisor, and Miles chooses Meeny to replace him.

In 2042, Mari holds a meeting of the Creator's Alliance, where they discuss Wilfre still being alive. Annoyed that Mari was withholding information from them, Miles and Meeny discuss pulling out of the alliance, something they do when Mari blames the Creator for harboring Wilfre. They are joined by Russet and Metis, and the three mayors leave the meeting. On the way home, Meeny asks about the World Gates, causing Miles to go on a tangent about their history.

Six months later, Meeny calls Miles into his room and asks Miles to start a family. Miles catches wind onto what's going on and begins to cry for his father. Meeny holds onto Miles' hand as he passes away and disappears, giving Miles a push in the direction of fighting Wilfre.

Salem Rose Pt. 2

After Salem Rose comes to The Wasteland and destroys the Stellar Showdown Housing Project, Meeny appears to Milfre, Steven, Mayor, and Athys. He explains that the being that attacked them wasn't Miles, but was some demented version of him. Meeny begs Milfre to not kill Miles unless absolutely necessary. She agrees and flies off.

When Milfre and Salem Rose finally fight, she brings up this promise, causing Miles finally shine through for a brief moment until falling back into Salem Rose.

<tabber> |-|The Lavasteam Chronicles Part One=

He wears a cape and a top hat in the hottest part of our village. That’s sketchy enough as it is.

–Meeny

Does Moe even know about Salem yet? Or is he too busy making sure your people don’t die in the mines?

–Meeny

I hope Moe can drop us some Banya Pies from time to time.

–Meeny

I’m not giving you the silent treatment; I’m trying to sleep you moron.

–Meeny

Wow! The water is still there? We gotta alert the press!

–Meeny

Well, it’s been a good run Blondie.

–Meeny

Hey Galileo? Is this where you lost the Stargazer?

–Meeny

Watersong and Lavasteam have had a peace treaty for a while, so this wouldn’t be an unwelcome visit.

–Meeny

Don’t worry about him, you didn’t do anything wrong. Now, I hear from your mother that you went on an adventure of your own a few days ago. Something about a conch?

–Meeny

Miles! The Giant Robosa was a secret!

–Meeny

I apologize for Galileo Mayor. I didn’t know he had that inside of him.

–Meeny

Galileo, put the sword away, and let’s get out of here.

–Meeny

We did get what we came for! We talked to Mayor Rose, and we have our leads! Your family isn’t here!

–Meeny

We don’t have a home anymore, and we aren’t exiled from Watersong. The two of us talked, and I think we want to stay here.

–Meeny

We should ask Rose about getting another room for one of us.

–Meeny

Sorry, I just didn’t realize how much this would take out of me.

–Meeny

You keeping that spear?

–Meeny

I thought we were gonna make a new life here, together.

–Meeny

Even back home, we barely had our parents, we never had Miney, and Moe was working most of the time. We had Galileo every now and then, but he just left us.

–Meeny

We had jobs to do! We were helping our village survive! Dad had just died, and Mom was bedridden! You seriously can’t be mad at them for that, can you?

–Meeny

Rose, what are you talking about? I’m perfectly capable of thriving on my own.

–Meeny

|-|The Desolate City=

Wakey wakey Blondie. It’s time to get on your boat.

–Meeny

Well, we had an argument, Rose knocked you out, and then NavyJ came by and we had a huge party. Such a shame you missed it.

–Meeny

Well, you better get to it then!

–Meeny

You mentioned wanting to go to Galileo’s hometown, so I went ahead and marked that on your map if you wanna start with that.

–Meeny

Galileo did say he lived in Rapocity, right?

–Meeny

|-|Salem Rose Pt. 1=

Miles, I hope you know what you’re getting into with this. If we leave the alliance, not only will that cut down our imports from Rapoville,
it also means we won’t be able to rejoin for at least another year.

–Meeny

Alright then. Good luck, Mr. Mayor Miles Rose.

–Meeny

As advisor to Mayor Rose, I would like to certify Watersong’s withdrawal.

–Meeny

It was a tough call, but you did the right thing.

–Meeny

Hey son, I’ve always wondered, where did that World Gate come from? If memory serves me right, it wasn’t here when I first showed up.

–Meeny

That was a wonderful story Miles, but it didn’t answer my question at all.

–Meeny

Thank you, Miles. Now if I were you, I would probably announce to the people that we’re no longer a part of the Alliance. Then don’t forget your meeting with Kamalah!

–Meeny

Me? Why would this affect me?

–Meeny

Let me know what sooner? Rose, if this is related to your powers, then why would it affect me?

–Meeny

So, because I married Rose, and because this is a disease related to her magic, I have it too?

–Meeny

Is there any way we can undo the bond?

–Meeny

Hey Miles, can you come here for a second?

–Meeny

You know I don’t have much time left, so I need you to promise me something.

–Meeny

Regardless, promise me this Miles. I need you to start a family for yourself. Get married, have some kids, promise me you’ll find someone you love. I don’t want you to be alone.

–Meeny

I love you son. Go be the Salem Rose the world needs.

–Meeny

|-|Salem Rose Pt. 2=

Please don’t kill him. That Raposa that passed through here, that wasn’t my son.

–Meeny

I apologize for not showing myself sooner, but please, Miles is a good kid.

–Meeny

I…I understand. Please be safe out there.

–Meeny
