Mr. Row is a part of what he calls a wagon trail, led by a Mayor Simmons. The group traveled north to New Market, settling with Mayor Simmons and his Deputy Mayor Bush.

Bavel

Colonel Michael Troutman Simmons, erroneously titled Kernel by Bavel, is a Human that appears in the short story Bavel's Diary as a supporting character. He was the leader of a wagon trail from Kansas City to New Market, bringing his friend George Bush and the family of Robert Row north with him, among others. At New Market, Simmons would be one of the few to meet Bavel, a Raposa, and learn about his culture.

Before Bavel's Diary

Michael Simmons was born in Kentucky, though he would later move to Missouri. Here, he would organize a wagon train with his friend George Bush. This train traveled north, picking up the family of Robert Row, among others, eventually settling in an area to be known as New Market.

Bavel's Diary

Bavel first mentions Simmons after appearing in the Human realm from the Book of Imagination. According to him, Simmons' party drew their weapons on Bavel, but lowered them when Bavel plead his case to them. Simmons then welcomed Bavel into the settlement, allowing him to stay with Robert Row for the time being. On the last day of Bavel's stay, he, Simmons, and Bush would discuss leadership methods and practices. As Bavel prepared to leave, he spoke with Simmons, Bush, and Robert's wife Isabelle, all of whom gave him permission to take Robert back to Rapoville with him for a week.

After Bavel's Diary

Over the next years, Simmons would eventually leave New Market in the hands Bush, leaving to continue north. About twenty years after Bavel's Diary, Simmons would pass away.
