–Ninja
Ninja, formerly known as Paint and Sparky, is a Screener, Human, former Raposa and former Robot created and adapted by GuyThatExists that appears in the short stories Blank Slates, Blank Slates 2, Blank Slates 3 as a major character, and in Salem Rose Pt. 1 as a minor character.
Originally a piece of Monk, Ninja was created to help with the development of games. Eventually, she transferred into a Raposa body, becoming Paint and joining the Four Guardians. As Paint, he fought against both Shadow Mari and Drakon. Later, he was killed by Salem Rose during his attack on The Void, and was revived as Sparky by possessing the body of Robot. It would then go on to fight against the Tree King and the Jungle Creature. It would also join the fight against Tombstone, though after being forced out of Sparky's body, they would become Ninja once more. As Ninja, she continued to fight against Tombstone, but was eventually sent into canon by Temte Mapleleaf.
Appearance[edit]
Ninja is a black-haired woman with a ponytail. She wears a red and white kimono and has black shoes.
Paint has yellow fur and a thin, grey mustache. He wears a red beret, a green sweater with a white undershirt, and red shorts. He also carries a paintbrush and a palette.
Sparky is a top-heavy robot with long arms, long legs, and a small waist. It has bluish-grey eyes and similar gems in its hands. It notably doesn't have a mouth.
Story[edit]
Before Blank Slates[edit]
Ninja was originally one of four pieces of Monk, a screener who split themself up to make development easier on them. As the development of Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter and Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter (Wii) neared completion, Ninja, along with the other pieces of Monk, opted to hide their human bodies in Warrior's Castle, taking the bodies of four Raposa instead. Ninja became Paint after inhabiting Mike O'Angelo's body, and when The Void was shut down, Paint feel into a deep sleep. Eventually, The Void was restarted for Drawn to Life: Two Realms development, and Paint awoke with the other screeners. Now calling the four piece of Monk the Four Guardians, they began helping Willham, Mayo, and Joseph Tringali with development decisions.
Blank Slates[edit]
During the development cycle for Drawn to Life: Two Realms, Joe called the Guardians to the Discussion Grounds to pick a character to revive for the upcoming game. Paint was the first Guardian to ask about Mildew, eventually leading the group to decide to send him up to the game, angering Shadow Mari. She attacks the group and threatens to bring life to The Void if they didn't bring Mildew back down. Because the decision was irreversible, Shadow Mari ends up attacking The Void, killing Willham and covering Ore in Shadow in the process.
After Shadow Mari's attack subsides, Paint, along with Flash and Hose, take Ore to the color vat in Lavasteam and revert him to his Raposa form. They return to the Discussion Grounds and find Joe, Franco, and Mildew. After looking around at the landscape, the devs ask about the Shadow Hole and ask how it came to be. After learning about Shadow Mari, Joe asks why she was in The Void without the dev's knowing. Flash comments that only one other person they know could create life - Mayo.
Shortly after, Drakon and Dinofrog attack the Discussion Grounds. Drakon kidnaps Joe, Franco, and Mildew, leaving the Guardians to fight Dinofrog. During their fight, the Discussion Grounds are destroyed, and the Guardians are in a stalemate with Dinofrog. As Paint fights the beast, Hose gets Alana to go summon the Droogle Killer, and Flash gets Willham to delete Dinofrog. After this, Willham, Rocko, and Crawler continue on their journey to the Shadow Hole, and Mayo asks the Guardians if they want a ride. Paint tries to ignore her, suspicious of her involvement with Shadow Mari, but reluctantly agrees to a ride to the Shadow Hole.
When they arrive, Shadow Mari summons an army of Shadow and Ink creatures from the hole, forcing Paint to fight the horde of enemies, alongside the other three Guardians, Rocko, Crawler, Fiora, Nolan. After Drakon and the Droogle Killer jump into the Hole, Shadow Mari calls off her army, and Mayo urges Shadow Mari to kill Willham, which she does. This causes Paint, along with the rest of The Void, to chastise Mayo's alliances and morality. Eventually, Mayo breaks down and begins to yell at the Guardians for seemingly hating her. After her outburst, she collapses to the ground and begins to cry. As Mayo cries on the ground, Paint, along with Ore, guard Mayo and keep other beings away from her. Eventually, Flash and Hose join them, and Flash tells Mayo to get up since Willham and Shadow Mari had left using the Shadow Hole.
Just then, Joe makes two announcements into The Void. He grants Hose's request to keep The Void full of life, and then says that he has to delete Mayo from The Void due to her actions. Mayo begins to disappear, begging for help. After Mayo is deleted, Paint joins the rest of the beings of The Void as they wish Alana, now known as Aly, luck in the next game. He is also part of the group that laughs when Fiora names Sandal, her new pet.
Salem Rose Pt. 1[edit]
Paint is first seen when Salem Rose, a corrupted version of Miles, comes to The Void. When Salem Rose jumps into the Color Vat and absorbs its power, Paint, along with the other Guardians, surround the vat, preparing to fight Salem Rose. Suddenly, the color erupts from the vat, knocking the Guardians down and covering them. He, along with the rest of the Guardians, were killed in this attack.
Blank Slates 2[edit]
After being killed, a cloud of blue smoke was released from Paint's body, and it shot off towards the Wii Village, possessing the body of Robot and waking up. Now awake, Sparky is in the middle of a fight against the Tree King's forces. It is attacked by Rata, Tat & Tat knocking it out of commission. After the battle subsides, the Tree King wakes Sparky up and tells it that they're going to the Color Vat. Remembering its former body and finding itself unable to speak, Sparky joins the group undercover.
When arriving at the Color Vat, Sparky watches as the Jungle Creature creates Shadow and Color beams that are sent through The Void. Sparky decides to shed its cover and attack the Jungle Creature, starting a fight. As the fight eventually evolves to include the Tree King and Squid, Mill, Fiora, Lambert, and Sandal all arrive to help fight. Even later, Violet, Hoopz, Fox, Nolan, and Rocko join the fight.
After defeating the three bosses and having Lambert join the Guardians, Mill thinks that the two bosses haven't been defeated, so they go back to the Two Realms Plains to find a piece of the Jungle Creature. Once there, a fragment of the Jungle Creature absorbs some of the Shadow and Ink creatures it created, forming the Shadow Squid and reopening the Shadow Hole. During the battle, Sparky attacks the Shadow Squid with electricity, but it is unable to do much damage. The same is true for when the Guardians leave to fight the new Tree King in the Wii Village. However, Sparky keeps attacking the Tree King until he's eventually defeated by Willham, Lambert, and Mill. Sparky then works with the rest of the Guardians, the screeners, and various other characters to help clear the battlefield of injured and deceased characters. One week later, Sparky stays at the Guardians' HQ while the rest of the guardians check up on the villages after the fight.
Blank Slates 3[edit]
Sparky is next seen a few years later, attending a meeting in the Developer's Grove with other Guardians, Aly, Joseph Tringali, and Franco Key, all discussing the whereabouts of GenericChallenge. However, the Guardians get a call from Violet, who was still in The Void, telling them that the final piece of the Jungle Creature - Tombstone - emerged in the Drawn to Life Village. Sparky, Hoopz, and Mill immediatley pack their things and return to The Void, taking Aly with them at her request.
When they arrive, Sparky watches as a defeated Tombstone is inadvertently revived by Gingerfre and his Shadow army. Because of this, Sparky and the rest of the villagers and fighters all retreat to the Two Realms Plains while Tombstone takes over the Drawn to Life Village. Sparky, unable to speak, is unable to help in the Plains, as they had no Mantra to use, but when Tombstone emerges from the Shadow Village, Sparky and the other Guardians begin attacking it. Sparky and Mill team up to attack Tombstone's eyes alongside Willham. When Jinxy appears to help fight the eyes, Sparky and Mill head to the ground to help recover the deceased Droogles that were freed from Tombstone's body.
After the fight, Tombstone collapses into a tidal wave, and Mill and Sparky head to the edge of the village to clean up the mess Tombstone made. However, when the Five Aldarks revive Tombstone again, Depression attempts to take Gingerfre, Jinxy, Hoopz, and Violet into Tombstone, so Sparky and Mill attempt to burst Depression's bubble from the outside. However, when the bubble finally bursts from a combination of energies, the burst knocks the smoke out of Sparky and Mill's bodies, allowing Robot and Doug to be taken by Tombstone. Sparky's smoke immediatley darted towards the Drawn to Life Village, though it was unable to find its original body.
Eventually, Sparky's smoke finds Jinxy, Heathers, and Alme Palmette attempting to explore the Drawn to Life Village's remains, and as the three of them enter Warrior's Castle, Sparky's smoke is able to hone in on and reenter its original body, becoming Ninja once more. When the three explorers make it to the caskets of the other Human Guardians, Ninja thanks them for showing her the way to her body, and she calls the other three Guardians back to their original bodies, bringing Tank and Skate back to life, but not Warrior, as their smoke was inside Tombstone. However, this does allow Goldie and her undead Droogle army to hone in on Warrior's Castle and attack the group.
During this attack, Ninja fixes Alme's phone, allowing him to contact Temte Mapleleaf and have her return to The Void to help fight Tombstone. As the fight with Goldie rages on, Ninja fights the army using her newfound shurikens, eventually being joined by Temte and her friend Q-Heather. Ninja and the others eventually push Goldie and the undead Droogle army out of the Castle, and Ninja leads the others back to the Guardians' HQ.
When the rest of The Void's fighters converge on the HQ, Ninja, along with some others, fight against the Tree King, killing his current body. Eventually, they watch Tombstone take over the Two Realms Plains. Ninja sits on top of the HQ with the Tree King's new body and Sorcerer, and the three of them watch Tombstone's bubble envelop the Plains. She is later called into the HQ with the other Guardians, Shadow Mari, and Willham, where they plot how to defeat Tombstone and learn how to harness their abilities from Monk, with Ninja learning how to disperse herself into smoke.
When the final group of fighters reconvene at the HQ, they watch as Tombstone, Drakon's corpse, and Red Dragon's corpse emerge from the three Tombstone bubbles. Ninja, the Tree King, Shadokomo, Rata, Tat & Tat all decide to engage Drakon's corpse. While fighting Drakon, Ninja uses her new abilities to transforms Drakon's wings into fish, dropping Drakon to the ground. She also uses her abilities to enlarge Shadokomo's swords and remove Drakon's claws. As Drakon is thrown back into Tombstone's bubble, the Tree King picks up the group of fighters and returns them to the main fight against Tombstone.
Back at the main fight, Ninja helps Tank and Skate transform a collapsing building into a Scribbled Knight, which begins to fight Tombstone. Ninja continues fighting until Tombstone attempts to absorb all of the fighters, forcing them to all be ejected into canon by Temte. The Guardians all return to the HQ while Temte transforms into the Master of the Abyss, and they offer to sacrifice themselves to become Monk once again, but they cannot due to Warrior's smoke not being available. While they deliberate on how to best fight Tombstone, the Master ejects the Guardians and Shadow Mari into canon. Ninja's current whereabouts are unknown.
